Seriously, when are we going to see any gameplay? Beta? Anything?
#2
Damn right it would.

As we're waiting for Project Stealth to be developed, let's have a weekly gaming session over skype conference call and play SCCT (and maybe other games if we get bored) and just generally fuck about in-game.

As you get more interested, post here with your skype name (or PM me it if you want) and I'll add you to the conference call group. Right now I'm thinking Saturday or Friday would be the most open night for me to play, but let's wait to find out what everyone is comfortable with.

Or, if you'd like to think of it in a more optimistic way, how close are we to exiting this development hell?

So a while ago this chick broke up with me. Whatevs, right?

Well, I liked this girl, a lot. A lot lot. She was, truly, my only source of happiness in the world, as terrible and as horrible as that sounds, it was enough for me. After we broke up, I pushed her to the recess of my mind, trying to forget about her. It didn't work, I thought about her everyday, to this day even, having fantasies of getting back together with her, of her begging me to come back. These were... Unhealthy, to say the least. I never expected to encounter her again, and every time I saw anything that reminded me of her it would throw me into a daze. Whenever a place I had to be took me on the road next to her house, I would feel sick, whenever I saw a girl who looked like her, or a place where we'd spent time together, I would feel like dying. It was bad, to say the least.

Today she posted a picture of one of our mutual friends to Facebook. I clicked on it, not knowing it was her album. Seeing her name hit me, hard. I couldn't think straight for thirty minutes, at least. It was during this time that I realized, well, I say realized, but in truth I already knew, so I'll say that it was during this time that I applied the concept of acceptance I had learned.

She was gone, there was no way of changing that. She had pushed me out of her life a bit, and I had ran out the rest of the way. That was a mistake, yes. There is nothing I can do about it, though so I have to accept it. I still have feelings for her, yes, but that is just something that I will have to live with. They'll fade in time, and in truth these feelings matter very little, as they are probably the remains of faded memories, and do not resemble the truth. I'll have to accept it. The truth is I probably won't ever see her again, and she's happy without me. I'll have to accept it.

Her leaving me felt like death, like my life was over, like it was raining forever. But it isn't death, and my life continues. I'll have to accept it.

And with that, the rain stopped. I felt free, lighter, happy. I will have to find my own happiness in life, but that's okay. It's probably unhealthy to have it any other way. I've accepted what I can't change, and that is perhaps the first major step on the path to the emotional recovery I've been seeking for over two years.

So I'm here today, Project Stealth, to share with you, that if you cannot change something, accept it. It is the way it is. You can't unthink the rain, but you can be okay with it being there.

Just wanted to share this little moment of mine with you all.

I only ask because I honestly don't know how many active humans are still on this board, let alone if any of you would be willing to play a game like Werewolf/Mafia.

But in any case, anyone interested?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_(party_game) <-- Mafia, for anyone who hasn't played it.

Cronky: Fixed the link... at least for me

The beta.
No, this isn't a "WHEN U RELEASE DEV" post, this is a more of a "Y U NO RELEASE" post.

The thing about indie projects, and mods, is that they have one big fucking advantage over non-indie producers, and that's that they can differ vastly in their corporate model. Full scale game production takes a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of risk. Professional dev companies creating games for money, and this is the factor that creates risk, and forces a large amount of money into the product. Indie devs, on the other hand, often create games because they fucking like games.

Professional devs, though, have a big advantage over indie devs - People know that professional devs will get the job done, and the game will be good. They're willing to hang onto every screenshot, every minute long video and be sure that the finished product will be good, based on the companies track record. And this is what professional developers depend on. Indie devs don't have this track record, and therefore they lack this trust from the public..

Now, the thing about indie devs, is that they don't care too much about the money, but about releasing something that others will like. Creating an indie game only (usually) involves a lot of time, and this allows indie devs to release an unfinished product, with the understanding that they'll release more as they get it done in order to gain higher amounts of interest in their project. The recommended, and often most effective model for indie games is the "release early, release often" mentality, where you release actual versions of the game as early as you can, no matter how broken, and as quickly as you can, to prove that your concept can work, to prove that you are actually creating quality work, and to allow the public to provide better input on the subject of the game, and suggest fixes for any feature obviously broken. This creates better rapport with the public, and therefore more trust with them, since the public knows that you are continually working on finishing a product, and will be more willing to wait for the game and play the finished and full version.

This helps the indie dev accomplish their goal of putting out a good game to a large amount of people to enjoy. The professional model accomplishes the goal of putting out a good game and have it return a profit. With a different goal, a different model works best.

Now this relates to PS, because they've failed the indie model. There are about 10, maybe, active forums users, and a good lot of them fucking hate each other. I imagine that if PS had followed the "release early, release often" model, there would be a bigger fanbase, a tighter community, and more certainty of success for the devs.

Now, in this knowledge, I am curious as to why the devs chose not to release early and often.
So, if you wouldn't mind revealing your master plan...

Just a nice little find I saw on Facebook, decided to share it here so that perhaps it may grow into something rather fun, but right now it's a bit dull.

http://aminerdy.com/

I figured we all have some nerdy inside of us, especially here, so why not share it?

Edit: And yes, I've already uploaded a nerdy picture. Bonus points if you can guess which one is mine.
