To anybody who watched it, how awesome was that? That motion controller everyone has been wondering about, we're the controller, this kind of thing has been done with Eyetoy before, but not to the extent of what I seen today, it was amazing.

But the main reason I watched it was for Splinter Cell Conviction. Not only did we see a trailer for the game, but we also saw a few minutes of gameplay, played live, and I have to say it looks amazing! If I was sceptical before (which I think we all were) I don't think we have anything to worry about now. It seems to me like it's kind of similar to a free roaming game, but not exactly; you can travel through this sort of city, and there seems to be a lot of diversity in how you can go about that. One thing that was really cool was when Sam walks along a side walk near the sea, however at the end of it there's a gaurd in the way of the building he must access. So the guy playing jumps over to hang on the ledge, shimmies along and pulls him over, and then he's in! I am very thankful for the changes that they have made, it seems to me that you can implement even more stealth into your play style than ever before, but if you don't want to do it like that, then the possibilities of assault look awesome. When you use a gun it's got this kind of stylised automated aim system, which for a game like this seems appropriate to me. I feel that no longer will you have to slowly turn towards a guy trying to aim at him, from what I could tell it's very fast paced, and it wouldn't be inappropriate to relate the pace to that of the Bourne series, this game just looks amazing!

But past the premise of the game, the technology looks fantastic. The graphics are great, as are the animations, and it seems to have a lot more feel to it than the lifeless demo of the old Conviction. There's an animation or two that felt a bit weightless to me, but I'm sure that Montreal will iron that out. It's out in fall this year and I can't wait :). In my opinion, this could have the best Single Player yet, but we still need to hear more about the multiplayer, as that is where the real replay value of this game will come to life.

Update: IGN has got an article up, interesting read. It also has uploaded gameplay videos showing what was shown as E3, they've edited it a bit and it's footage of the live playthrough that was done at E3, but it's the same level and the same method used to traverse it :). It is also mentioned that there is an extended walkthrough at www.splintercell.com in that IGN Video, but it's not up yet, that could be either the whole level as we saw in the press conference, or maybe even more footage that we haven't seen before!

Hmz. It's different. I don't really have an opinion. The Mark and Execute thing is original, but maybe not my cup of tea.

Read the IGN Article, seems that 'Mark and Execute' might not be as easy as it looks, and you can still manual aim by the way :).

UPDATE: Found E3 Footage, this is the live playthrough :).

Wouldn't you want to see something better than something you already worship? Or are you supporting PS just to get back at ubi for its past disappointments?

Spekkio

Hmm...

Looks like they are favoring action over stealth in this version. One thing that got me going "wtf" though was the fact that Sam can shimmy across a ledge faster than he runs.

I've seen it somewhere... ahh yes:

It looks cool. Thing is, it doesn't look like Splinter Cell anymore.

Zedblade

I watched the entire conference and I have to say that Conviction looks pretty good IMO as well as Alan Wake and uh... Felicia Day... I find her so fucking attractive it borders of insanity.

That's a stupid thing to say. A mega-franchise game created by a team of a 100 professionals over a span of years will of course destroy and little Mod made by amateurs that can't get their shit together.

I agree with the fact that the game looks very pretty, but I would have to say that most games today are starting to look more and more like interactive cut scenes. You have control of you character, but a lot of what's happening on the screen is being ASSUMED by some of your hands' gestures, and even though that's not necessarily what you meant to do, you'll go along with it because IT LOOKED FUCKING COOL, BITCH!

People are saying it's too actiony, in an interview a producer said you WILL be able to ghost (although some levels REQUIRE you take out specific people). The only reason the demo's were so full of it was because most of the new features are to do with taking out opponents, there really isn't much to demo in stealth (especially as they only have a certain amount of time and stealth can take a while).

Lets hope they have their shit down for SvM and CooP. :D

That's also a stupid thing to say... the only reason I'm here is because I think you can make something better and more fun than what ubi has made.  ::)

sp looks awesome.

and zed is right. i mean if sc:c is like the chaos theory multiplayer, with new maps and a few new eq, it will probably be better. and it looks as if ubi are listening so hopefully we will have good old SVM back...
