Running Crysis is good, but really the only thing you need to be able to run right now is PS.exe with the -make extension...

...and notepad.
So, you want me to run PS at 20 FPS while testing/deving instead, having to tweak the hell out of it in order to make it run Lakehouse a bit better to normally walk around (about 10-15 FPS)? Also never being able to make cool renders without having anyone else to do it? Not to mention 2,5 hours waiting time when generating shader-caches in which I can literally do nothing. I feel sad :(

Crysis was really a measuring standard for the power of the PC, I don't even have the game.

I can't tell if you missed the joke or not.

I got a 690 (really happy with it). Is that comparable? Btw, sounds nice.
I'm waiting for the next-gen CPUs (hexacore and up) and the 6000 series of AMD for graphic cards.

Hexa? They already made Octo... Intel even have an octogint-core on the way.

If my heart ever heals, I will make sure it'll never break again.

Received the case today, so ordered all of the components today.

Instead of the CM PSU I went for a (much better rated) 850 Watt (http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/26990-9-way-850w-power-supply-roundup-7.html) in order to be able the handle possible CF/SLI upgrades.

Rest stayed the same, so I'm very excited! Should get it Friday! Was extra happy I did it today and not yesterday, as the CPU went down another 20 euros :D (which kind of justified the higher price of the 850 watts PSU).

Shut up fanboy, the watt usage/heat was just idiotic to say the least.

The XFX double-lifetime warranty is the best thing ever.

Hence why I took it over other brands.

Was speaking about the NVIDIA 470 here. A single GPU would use about 480-500 watts at full load and become like 92 degrees (because the fan only runs at 60% MAX, making it higher makes it reach at least 60dB opposed to the 33db at 60%). A SLI setup would drain about 600-700 watts. Really, I have no words for it.

I rather have 8-10% less performance in games that are heavily tesselated (and that amount in some very rare cases), than taking THAT thing into my setup.

Anyway you won't use 60% of your real PC power in games...  they just don't suppor 4 cores or don't need full graphic card power :) I mean most of them.

yup i got:

Antec 900 Case
Antec TPQ-1200 1200W PSU
Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz
EVGA X58 FTW3
EVGA GTX480 1.5GB GDDR5
6GB (3x2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600
COOLER MASTER 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler
Apple cinema 20" Widescreen LCD
Logitech G15/ logitech Mx 518
Logitech G25
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Creative Fatal1ty headset(1/8")

so basically overclockable in the future to 4.0+ GHz without new cooling, my 1600 DDR3 will overclock right with it (MB supports 1600+), and room for 3 (Gah, 3 way SLI is 16x16x8x, bummer) EVGA GTX 480's, which all have lifetime warranty, as well as the board. virtual-surround sound in headphones and  a hell of alot of fun to race with using the G25.

BTW 2 GTX480's in SLI only draw ~400 Watts together using a benchmark app, i saw the meter right next to thescreen, and if you have a modern gaming case (like everyone should) you dont need to worry about temps unless your room is unusually hot.

if you got a PC like this try reinstalling GTA IV (i know you own it don't lie), and DiRT 2, awesomegames that look great and play great too.
