General / Off-Topic / Cool(?) New Game
April 20, 2012, 12:40:58 AM
Hey Everybody,
Saw this today, looks like the art style of Bioshock Infinite, the scenery of Half-Life and the gameplay of Splinter Cell. I would write it off, but Arkane and Bethesda are making it...

General / Off-Topic / Bioshock Infinite's Engine
December 29, 2011, 05:11:12 PM
So this is somewhat relevant (Infinite's engine is a modified UE3 engine); I just re-watched the Bioshock: Infinite trailer and, maybe I'm behind the times, but this part (with the building falling): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hM91ZdrB74&feature=player_detailpage#t=83s

...Go ahead, go watch, I'll wait...

No cheating- go watch

Back? Ok, anyways- the building falling, and the bell crashing beside you, it's all done in real time! They didn't even know the building was going to fall; it was sheer luck that they were in the right place at the right time! The engine handles all of the interactions between the the weather effects (mainly wind) and the buildings. So this building you see is put off-balance by the bell, and eventually the structure can't take the force exerted by gravity / the bell pulling down on the building at such an extreme angle; so the building collapses and the bell comes racing towards you :D (where I found this out: http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/BioShock_Infinite )

...yeah, I just geeked out a little

General / Off-Topic / Music
December 15, 2011, 07:27:00 PM
Hey everybody-
So I'm looking for some new music; something to listen to while gaming / working on Project Stealth, any ideas? I normally listen to Cage the Elephant, Jet, the Black Keys and bands like that, but I've been known to listen to some jazz and trance every once in awhile.

Oh, and for anybody looking for something different / new, try electro-swing; it's crazy awesome fun in a can. (like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qjomu9K0Xk )

Hey everybody,
Thought I would post and introduce myself; I'm BearInATie, and it looks like I'm the new Trial Dev-team member. I'm 19, an American, and studying for a master's in computer science. I'm new to UDK, but hopefully that won't stop me. AMA I guess :)

UDK Programmer, Frvge replied to my general application stating that I may be able to do winning conditions

Well versed in C++, Java, Python, published researcher in immersive virtual reality, I do have entry-level UDK skills though

For UDK: I create a simple map and mod that included med kits, a damage zone, a key for a sliding door and best of all; a custom variable (money) that was displayed and assigned to the player like any other variable
