Apparently all the good posters except maybe a couple old-timers are gone
(Agent excluded, he always gets emotional and gets trolled).
Everyone turned into a spammer, spamming and spamming
and spamming useless crap all over the board.

Getting to actual content is harder than before, and so I suggest appointing
a mod or two who would extract all the useful content into a separate,
read-only portion of the forum,

Also, people should begin to get banned, or at least silenced. Dimmy was banned several times,
always for being agressive. Is spamming not being agressive towards the reader?
It certainly is, as I see it.
Therefore, I believe the best course of action is to keep to a small rule:
"If your post is not relevant to the topic, you get your posting rights taken form you for 24-48 hours"
Notice I said "relevant to the topic", not "to any of the previous posts".
This forces every post has to be kept on track, discussing a given problem/ option or issue, without having all the "he said she said/ it's his fault/ she started" emotional bullshit.
If you want to discuss matters personally/ feel offended because of a post, take it to PMs.

I dearly cling to the idea that somebody (frvge) will decide to bring this to life and the forum will become
easy-to-use again.

Does anyone here play it?
If so, post whether you're NA or EU, and we shall have some games.
Perhaps even a PS fanbase sponsored tourney (open to all players)?

Anyway, EU here.

I managed to get Photoshop CS running under wine.
Until PS is released, I stick with Linux. Unless Epic decides to support free software, in which case I'll gladly bid windows farewell.

Also: ext3 fukken rules.

Public Discussion / Brainstorming - flow testing
« on: July 16, 2010, 12:48:47 PM »
Basically I'd like this to be a totally ontopic topic. Thanks.

In my understanding, flow is the way the various decisions you make ingame affects the way you are playing. If I'm wrong on that one correct me.

Map sectors:
Basically I'm just pointing out that there are places where the spies can feel pretty safe, and there are places where the mercs can feel pretty safe (vents and the merc's corridors (not on all maps, though).

The divisions in gameplay:
SPY side:
- Either you are against a merc in the area (this includes stealthing AND forcing your way through)
- Or you go with the vent approach and keep as far from the merc as possible while going for the objectives.
- Fighting the merc

Merc side:
- Actively searching for the spy (while planting traps)
- Passively searching (eg. camping an objective or a place)
- And fighting the spy

Now to keep that interesting, let's talk about the first point in the spy side:
What does it need to have to be interesting, what (general) mapping decisions need to be made, how the approach would change depending on the openness of the environment, or whether you're in a chokepoint or not.

Now, imo a great approach to mapping a place where you can both stealth around and get into conflict would be to have multiple (eg. less than 7) paths for the spy, with one of them going through the room the mercs can access (think museum cafe with more paths (vents with open sides etc), but less shadows in the actual room). It would be harder to hack etc, but getting away would be easier, and perhaps camo could be of some use here.

For the merc part, as long as the paths are not next to each other and he can't check them all within... 15 seconds it's all good, since the spies can still get through pretty safe. However, becasue there are so many paths to check, i'd have motion sensors on the end of the spies 'vent paths'.

The fun part: the vents have open sides, you can ambush the merc (depending on the vents placement), and have a pretty neat way of getting to cafe in and out.

The situation:
- I open up
- It loads _very_ slowly.
- I start hoping that frvge is uploading the beta.
- I notice that torrents are running, but I forgot about them.

Whatever you guys have drawn/ painted that relates to PS in any way goes here.
The idea is to show off. I personally hope to see some comics.

Slowly working on that, I'll probably have to redraw it a couple of times because of messed up proportions or something.

Public Discussion / Release imminent (well, not really, but it's close)

Project Stealth: Spy vs Mercenary's public beta will be downloadable for free at the end of August.

I'm going to so stop having a real life then.

Will we be able to create/use them on PS?

Beyond offering wonderful graphics capabilities, the XreaL engine is also able to load game content from Quake 3, Doom 3, Unreal Tournament 2004, and even Unreal Tournament 3! There is not even an Unreal Tournament 3 client for Linux yet, but this open-source engine can read the game’s content.

PS should have its own Linux distro if this works out.

I just came back from the blues harp workshops that were organized by Tomek Kamiński.
It was really awesome. They expected about 25 people, and we ended up being ~40, including two russian girls, Bertram Becher from Seydel, a great guy by the way, and some other foreign people.

Yeah. That's all. Totally off-topic, isn't it?

Can we expect you guys to add them when there are no more bugs left?
Is it possible for a mod?
