Im for keeping mines as they are in CT. I dont see a need of changing anything here. I would only like to see cool blinking and hear nice sound. I think we could discuss the way proxies blink :)

frvge, Did you notice that every flamewar or off-topic starts because of one person ? Why dont you talk to this guy and explain him that its not nice to behave like a shitass.

Gawain

i may be rude, but it's better to be rude than to post stupid unconsidered bullshit. it's also not my fault that people can't handle someone showing them their lack of diligence/brain/experience/whatsoever and cope with it by going offtopic and start flaming. i don't give a crap about offending people i hardly know, i only care about this project, and brainless discussions dragging lots of threads totally off-topic won't help for sure.

frvge

No Gawain, being rude is being frowned upon. Others can find it really annoying.

You can still make a poll for banning.

Tbh, there isn't much to discuss here.  The op even admitted that it wasn't a great idea.  Unless we use this as a proximity mine in general topic, it should be locked.  And even then, proxy mines probably shouldn't be changed that much anyways.

What about the spies hacking merc gadgets so they function for both teams?  Do you guys remember that?  I remember something about giving the spy the ability to hack into a mine (maybe with a gadget) so that the mine blows up on both the merc and the spies.  I don't remember exactly how the idea went.  Possibly it could work with spy traps too?  If the spy hacks it and a merc trips it then the merc would show up on the spy's radar.  I don't know, could be a nice new gadget for spies and add another interesting aspect to mines.  What did you guys think about it?

Maybe for Rambo/Gawain, it should be a 2 strike policy lol.  He'd be out. :D

The funny thing, though, is that hardly anyone will listen to you if you don't learn to actually express yourself like a human being.

Rambo, you still should have acknowledged that Maestro was new to this forum. You could have explained yourself a little better instead of coming off as a rude prick, you know? It doesn't matter if you know the person or not because your speaking loudly for yourself. I'm sure the person you're being a douche to doesn't give a shit about who you are either. Many members of this forum probably don't really care about your opinions or how you act because you've shown your true colors. This may be why half the shit you post is just as significant as Maestro's very first post....and hes NEW here. Says lots.

Also, every time you make a new name Gaiwan, it doesn't just erase what you've said in the past. You have your good points and you're fun to play CT against, but your quite the asshole. Quit thinkin so damn high and mighty about yourself and act a little humane once and a while. Not that fuckin hard.

Farley4Fan

Agreed.^

If the guy is new (actually, regardless of if he's new or not) you should do a few things:

1) Politely disagree with him.  Explain yourself and refrain from using cuss words, not very welcoming.

2) Welcome him.

3) Be the opposite of what you usually are.

Seriously Gawain.  This is 1st grade shit right here.  Be polite.  Be respectful.  Wtf, I don't have to explain this to you.  Forget it.

yeah that's a sad thing that it's more important how you make a point than what your point actually is.

i played as rambo for years (back in those days the name fit), then i switched to gawain for some months because i saw some other players called rambo and i considered it a childish nick, but then illusion pointed out that rambo is the most ironic name one can find for this kind of game and that i should stick to my roots. besides, rambo 4 pwns. i've also not created any new account or changed xfire or whatsoever, i stand for what i say and do.

i know that it was wrong to flame someone totally new to this forum, but it's absolutely crucial for a good discussion not to try to be polite and all that crap but to simply state how facts look like and tell one own's opinion. it's also a good thing to try to totally counter new ideas as this method will better show the flaws of the new idea and helps to improve it. dammit i hate these days of political correctness...

and why in the world do you have to post that much about me being rude in one short statement again and again? it's not that it matters that much that you guys have to drag a thread into boring off-topic...

yes there is something important to discuss, but people obviously don't give a crap about my input no matter how important it is:

Quote from: Rambo on April 06, 2008, 11:36:07 PM
a way more interesting and important question on mines is: will there still be edge-overlapping placement in ps?
my view on this is that it should stay in the game if chaff still works the way it does in ct.
so can we actually go back on discussion or do you wanna act like 1st graders (it's funny how often i'm being called names like ashole, retard, etc by someone who considers me immature and rude when i just flame the ideas of people)?

Farley4Fan

Lmao.  :D

Rambo, it's not like you are the only one here with that same opinion.  We mostly all think it's unnecessary to do this.  Yet somehow, you are the only one (time and time again) that is not able to present your opinion in a respectful manner.  It's like if someone asked us if we like Apples or Bananas.  Most of us say we prefer apples including you, but you say "Fuck Bananas they fucking suck ass!! apples for the mothatruckin win!  Anyone who thinks otherwise is retarded!!!!11"

Plus, it's a new guy to the forum.  Come on.  Do we really have to explain how we should act to the guy even if we all don't like his idea?  I know that I sound like a total pansy but we probably lose more members that way.  And it's not like it's that hard to disprove something and state facts without being angry.  It's bullshit Gawain.  Lighten up.

Gawain

for me, stating that someone's opinion sucks isn't showing disrespect; it's just an effective and truthful way of communicating. i'm aware that this may repel new members/players, and i'm sorry for the fact that i simply didn't look who posted the op.

It's not, but look at what you posted:

this idea is fucking stupid and absolutely unneeded.

Thats a little bit different than a "imo, this sucks".

i need no "imo", it's obvious that what i post is my opinion, nothing less and nothing more.

can this off-topic blabla stop now so that we can get back on proximity mines or just let this thread die?

Ion.67

Rambo, I actually listened to you for a week, before I figured out you were Gawain. Then I stopped again.

Farley4Fan

Lol^

Do you undestand the difference between disagreeing and rudely disagreeing?  I don't think you do.  And even if you do, neither one has a more convincing tone to it, just one has a more "asshole tone" to it.
