I'd be happy with a save state function. And Battlefield is different to PS because BF has so many more players.

@Papa: Don't say we have no arguments when every single argument you've repeated over and over is based on your extremist guesses. You cannot possibly think of EVERY SINGLE situation that can happen when you play online, so don't act like you do.

yeah agent, nice timing roflcopter, like a drunken war-vet making a pointless remark just when you least expect it XD
@westfall: there ARE players that want a pause function, eg kurbutti and me, and im sure that there are more out there. you also know me good enough that you should know that i'm not the type to press "ready" when i'm not, or to try to abuse such a function, and neither is kurbutti. you can't simply deny that we have a point: it's better to freeze a good game for a minute than having to restart the whole round. yes, this would only be used with friends. but in this little community every1 knows every1 anyways (at least if they're not faking), so this should be np. the fact that a pause and replay function are in pretty much every competitive game nowadays should also make you guys reconsider your view.
Could you give some titles of games who have this functionality?

Actually, I know some myself. The Battlefield series, server admin can pause the game.

EDIT: I'm all against a freeze function, since I just explained Rambo it's frikkin' annoying to stare to a frozen screen for as long as the guy is away. Server admins did that to me in awesome battlefield games, and I just left them because I couldn't stand the waiting anymore. I'd rather have the "save state" feature, if any at all.
Finally the words of power

How many pause funtions have been in any SvM games?  Zero.  And in my opinion they did just fine without them.  A replay system however it could use, especially to help newbs learn and progress.  I can simply deny that you have a point, you don't.  You can play with those peeps as much as you'd like and see the beauty there, you can play with them as much as you'd like and play competitively, you can play over and over again and see both of these things.  One round which magically gets completely destroyed because 1 guy takes a 20 sec piss is no biggie, not to mention that a 20  sec AFK guy doesn't ruin a match either.  It's his fault if he leaves when it gets to the good part with minimal time left, and if he leaves with a minute left in a close game he probably doesn't care about the result eh?

papa, you seriously fail in basic logic, so i try to sum it up for you: it doesn't matter who's fault an interruption is, and it doesn't matter how many games i can have with those fellows. it all comes down to the question wether enough people would make use of a pause function because they'd rather wait 30s instead of finishing a broken round or restart it; and this number doesn't even have to be very high because it's obviously not hard to implement and doesn't harm anyone. this is my last try to make you understand, cause if you don't get this it's absolutely pointless discussing with you about anything at all.

You fail at common sense. MULTIPLAYER GAMES DO NOT HAVE PAUSE. NO REASON!

Aj

I can only think of one MP game I have played that has had pause, and that was ESPN NFL 2k5.

OK  Ive made it clear in the beginning , this idea isn't going to work , so why are you all circling around my point 50 times ?

and further note , i really don't think this thread deserves the 12 pages of
repetition that it has gotten.. and just move on to something better . . =/  like

Pretend3rs post which actually breathes new life to this forum.

Common sense?  Do you know the meaning of the word(s)?  Putting a pause option on a live online game is idiotic, unneeded, and is not common sense.  It's online, you can't just pause it.  By readying up you show that you are ready for an online live game.  If something important comes up, CT becomes unimportant.  "I'd rather do this" or "I want this".  Why don't you think about what the community wants and not just you and the few people on your side like Kurbutti?  Aj gives a great example where a pause option IS needed.  A strictly 2 person game.  You can't continue with the other.  Coop games, 2 person versus games, RTS, NOT 4 player versus.  THINK about it ffs.  I grow tired of explaining to you that this idea is not worth any effort and not worth discussing any further, DROP IT!

Your word isn't the almighty final word agent, and unfortunately people need more explaining than from just one senile guy lol Just kidding of course. ;)

And just for laughs, tell me how the fuck I fail at basic logic?

Hyrage

I'm totally done with this thread.
There would be no solid reason to implement this function. Pausing the game for the need of one player asking a vote is dumb and selfish. Do not ready up or ready up and assume your consequences, so it also means to not waste other people time.

I agree. The only online games which have a pause button are 1 VS 1 sports games. Fifa, PES (might be wrong here), Madden series etc, and even that sucks. This isn't going to work, there are like 2 people including yourself which actually like the idea Rambo. Just give up already  ;) if you do i'll give you a gold star and a cookie, like the one lennard couldn't afford. ;)
