Edit: Ah well, might as well say something. Put in a mini ingame cutscene at the beginning of each map (after load, not after each death) for the spies. On bank, I want to see spies repeling from the helicopter. On Clubhouse, I want to see spies repel from the wall into spawn. In missile, I want to see spies parachuting into spawn! I don't mind mercs that much because they could have been guarding for hours before the spies attack but it would be nice for some maps like in mall seeing 2 mercs enter the mall acting all cool-like with their laser targetting on.

cool idea and I wouldn't mind seeing it once....but I don't want to have to wait an extra 15-30 seconds each time I start the game and seeing the same scene over and over for the same map.

Overstatement

It won't be that long since you are seeing it over and over. 3 - 6 seconds? As long as a death animation (you don't get bored seeing those, they are short).

Vega

Ah ok I was assuming more of a pre-rendered cutscene and missed the in-game part.  Wouldn't be bad at all if it's that short.  But death scenes are for tactical purposes, the beginning is not.  That's why I mentioned it.

Lurch

About all the traps and passive defences. I think it would be cool that mercs would carry a chip in their suit that disable proxymines, lasermines, spytraps and the like if the merc enters a 5 meter radius (or more or less). This way they wouldn't be blown up/screwed by their own security systems. By being quick, spies could creep behind mercs and get past these defences without disabling them.

goodkebab

^^rendering proxies nearly useless then.

Think about it....

Merc places proxy......spy tazes merc....runs past proxy.

Ded merc.

Vega

wouldn't it be the opposite?

goodkebab

hah! last night i died twice from my own mines while the spy survived.

Vega

AHHH I HATE that.  The merc shields the blast, it's great. :(

Lurch

See? It would help a merc in that situation and a spy in a situation where he's stalking a merc. It would still be cool to shock the mine and it's systems overridin and it exploding. Not fun to completely take out a way to kill a merc.

Overstatement

I think it's a great idea (Hear that? A complement. Vega, it's your turn, go insult someone) except like when I know the spies are aggro and I put mines everywhere they are likely to attack (like the upper corridor of clubhouse) so while they are attacking and being careless, mines kills them. But I'm likely to be pretty close to that mine while they aggro me so you see the problem...

Exile

more Interactive inviroment ,  Like droppin the box in pirates!

For example...a big chandelier droppin by tazing/shooting(by merc) the connection on the ceiling.

or....the old stair trick, steps turn into a slide causing the one on the stairs sliding down
and knockin their head against the wall(if a wall is at the end) wich makes them go unconscious,
so the one who trggerd the button can have his way with the unconscious merc/spy....

or.....

ahhh so the truth comes out.  Actually, if you noticed and weren't being such a pompous jackass who thinks he is better than everyone because he is on the team; then you would see that I was agreeing with lurch.  I said "I HATE THAT" when a merc puts a mine in place and the mine kills the merc when a spy should of died too (due to the fact that the spy is very close to the merc).  I didn't come directly out and say "I like this idea!" but I was agreeing with it.  If it's such a big deal on stating when I do and do not like things (as you so nicely put it) then I will say "good idea lurch, I agree with this."  I thought that was obvious with my post saying "I hate that" after what goodkebab said.

Something tells me you have something you want to get out, please, share it with me via xfire or IRC.  I'd love to hear it.

BTW, definitely like your thinking Exile.  I would love more interactive stuff in the game, such as the box drop.  A big chandelier would be sweet  8)

Actually, I was saying you are too damn nice to everyone. That was probably the first time I agreed with someone's idea. I just wanted to see the first time you disagree with someone's idea (because criticism is usually better than not).

And I don't even think I'll be joining the team. If they are going to make a programming decision (picking the engine) without actual programming advice (to my knowledge, there isn't a programmer on the team yet) then joining would result in a lot of talking on deaf ears.

I'm sorry, but I'm gonna call you out and say BS.  Considering your attitude towards me on IRC does not leave me to think otherwise.  It's funny that you made such an unclear and two-sided statement that it allowed you to change the meaning.

I'm going to bed.

I don't even remember saying anything to you on IRC but if it's a fight you want, lets go, Wii Boxing multiplayer! (God, I want a Wii so badly)
