Obama's athiest.

No he's not dumbass. He's Christian.

Anyway...

YES!!!

Good job on catching my joke, blond.

How ironic.  You misspelled blonde.

I really hope Obama does well, but, in all honesty I don't think he will do any better than Bush.

If you can use normal words to tell your truth, go ahead. Your previous post violated Dutch law, so I had to step in.

I'm not saying I don't believe that there's some form of greater power beyond what we can prove, but look at it this way, it's all a fucking loop. If you take a Christian point of view, God created the world? So okay how did God start, (because of this), how did that become possible, (because of this...), and it would just loop back to this simple point, if there can't be any first starting point we can prove, what's the point.

There isn't, IMO. Sure there's things beyond what we know, but religions... when they start telling you things like you were born with foreskin but you need to remove it to enter their religion, or that speaking to a man in a confession room will make your 'forgiven' by the Gods... you have to take a step back and realise some people just cannot think for themselves. I believe there's things that caused this world to happen that I do not understand but religions are a very different thing.

it was a joke though and some lines i got from full metal jacket film

frvge

If you'd made it clear that it was a short quote from Full Metal Jacket, and that the context was clear (no misinterpretation possible) and that it has an substancial added value to the discussion, then it's ok with me. Especially the third point is important.

are you in the wrong thread?

I was talking about religion cause it was mentioned about Obama.

This is the exact problem I have with the big bang theory, and believe it or not, proves to me that there is a God.  The Big Bang theory states that there wasn't even space before the Big Bang because it was created through the big bang.  The Big Bang Theory ALSO states that matter clumped together for the massive explosion, so where'd the matter come from?  While the Big Bang Theory is, listen closely, BELIEVABLE it is only believable when I see something behind the scenes pulling the strings.  It's hard to comprehend that a God always has been here but it's also equally hard to believe the Big Bang theory the way it is right now.  I just find the existence of God and the involvement of God in the creation of the universe using the so called "big bang" to be my best answer for how the universe started.  It bugs me to no end when people say that God and science are mutually exclusive, especially when there are countless scientists who believe in a God.

VaNilla

Who's to say I believe in any theory. The big bang, it could have happened, but of course nobody knows how how the effects behind it came about, and that would loop, your right. But at least there's evidence behind that. It's much more believable than a God to me.

However again, who's to say I believe in a theory. It is interesting though, finding about as much as possible about how things started, and what started them, rather than saying it must be a God.

I wasn't saying you in particular, but it is a very widely accepted theory.  The big bang theory I mean.

And still, we can find only find out so much.  The more we find the more it becomes obvious, to me at least, that there's just no way this all happened by chance.

no scientist ever uses the word chance, they dont think chance creates things, if they did, then they wouldnt be researching dont you think?
'chance' is a misconception by religions and strategy to deceive people into 'proving their beliefs right'

scientists only think that every single thing has an a reasonable explination, and that is why when they dont know the reasons for sure, they develop theories.

when scientists dont know something they simply dont know the reason or explination of how it came to existance, but that dosent mean that they think that 'chance' created it

the word chance is a logical fallacy as well as a misconception.
