Let me just say this...

The mod will never go retail on its own. If it does, Gui will have to give me head or something. But it won't happen.

If it gets bought out, good for you. But I really doubt it. Why? It is not because I think you are not capable, I think it is because it will be too small of an audience, too hard of a learning curve, and not profitable. Look at UBI. They tried it and it didn't work. Max of like 200 on at a time? Compared to counter-strike, you are like an ant.

BUT your comparing it to a company that leaves thier products half ass AND project stealth has a bigger fan base then ever ..due to the attention to detail / reworked netcode.

-Thanks Murdy for da Sig <3  xD

How big is the fanbase? Like 50 at most?

It depends. As Westfall said, "Worked on a mod which was later bought by a professional game developer" sounds much better than "Worked on a mod which had a player base of 40 people", atleast to me.
Depends on when they buy it. Saying that you produced a real, finished product is better than saying you partially completed something until someone else bought it.

Also, wouldn't it be difficult to prove you worked on the project once Ubi changes all the files?

Just because they bought it from you does not mean you give them all of the rights. Well, if you were smart you wouldn't give them all of the rights. Saying that you produced a product that you are still connected to and was bought out would be the ultimate winner over "finishing a mod" or "sold my shit to UBI."

All comes down to copyright, and how much you are willing to give away. Especially if you can try to gain royalties from what they've produce/sell.

Yes but the partially completed part was good enough for a major game developer to buy. Isn't that like a gold pot? I mean, if people were able to do that in their free time, imagine what they'd do if they were working on it as their daily job.

Right now whenever you do a prop/textures, you add your initials and what version it is (a, b, c, d..) after the props name (something like example_gmA/example_d_gmA (diffuse)/example_n_gmA (normal)/example_s_gmA (specular)). That only works now. IF project stealth were to be bought, I have no idea how we'd manage to prove what is ours and what isn't, unless, we got to keep the copyright of our stuff or everything we did was named on the contract, I suppose.

what will PS do if it wins the grand prize of the 'make something unreal' contest

then on top of that ubi comes in all pisst at the UT doods saying that they want to produce and sell the game

so u get the grand prize money then ubi buys u out

and ur millionares and ps becomes the most popular game in the world (available in all consoles and operating systems)

and u guys are receiving a million emails per day of fans saying how their mind is blown away by this awesome game

and hot girls ask you to please fuck their holes because they love the game so much

what would ps do? :P

i think that u guys should build like a playboy mansion and invite us all (the original PS community) for some partying.

LoChang

We can party like Obama in the White House.

What recession?

Oh and is it possible to arrange distribution via Steam for free or like 1 Usd or Euro. You could be the support team for the project.... And update it from time to time since they already distribute Ut.
Why would they do that ? Well you could offer your project to them for free to get more fanbase for project stealh assuming it will be well made . And they would get more free merchandise for steam users. It is a win-win situation for both of the sides. Althought someone would have to talk with 'steam corp first'.

Assuming the project will be well done... Well to some extent. In a way this is like team fortress 2 for Half life. At start it was some stupid mod and now its big. This can happen to Ps probably. Guess who made it all happen ? THATS RIGHT STEAM!

P.s. Then you will definately will need a learning curve for begginers. Something that would explain the basics.
