If the dev team set up a venue like PayPal to donate would you?

Yes of course, they worked hard on this.
No I'm a stingy cheap bastard.

I was thinking about this after reading another thread. Basically someone said "Well it's free so who cares". This got me thinking as it may be free in the fact they aren't selling it but it doesn't mean their time is worth nothing. I was thinking that for the amount of time and effort they put into this it would be worth a small donation. Hell when this is all said and done I bet there is a few wives or girlfriends who would love flowers or something to make up for the time lost to making this game.

I for one would have no problem donating as I donate to BF2 servers all the time for the work people put in doing admin and just keeping the server going.

To the forum admin, I hope I'm not out of line by putting this out there. If you feel I am please feel free to delete it.

Too... Can't remember who I gave my babies as well...

Haha, just kidding. I appreciate your way of reasoning :)

We're currently not in the donating-phase. All in due time.

Ahh ok. I was just curious what people would think. You guys strike me as a proud bunch who wouldn't necessarily ask. Part of it was I also wanted to get people thinking about it for when this gets closer to release.

Well, I'm actually wondering what the community thinks of this, please discuss.

Just pretend frvge didn't say that xD

Gui Brazil

Voted no.

If I wasn't in the dev team, I would never pay.

No... we're not allowed to make it mandatory to pay in order to download.

Note that the question is:
"Would you donate to PS, if you could?".

Not:
"Would you pay to play?"

Capiche?

No... we're not allowed to make it mandatory to pay in order to download.

by what he means is for example people pitch in money to keep the site and servers funded so your not always the one burning the hole in your wallet.

-Thanks Murdy for da Sig <3  xD

That's kind of what I was illuding to. Not pay to play just see people donate to show appreciation for all your hard work. Like Agent said, to keep the forum going etc. I know you can't charge to play a mod due to licensing but there is nothing stopping you from accepting donations, especially if a non dev set it all up for you.

I didn't mean pay to play, I just wasn't clear if you could collect ANY money at all.

Zedblade

You don't have to donate to play the game, it's completely voluntary and you are able to download and play the game without ever giving us a single cent. So yes, it's legal and it's something we should do once the game is released. The money can be used to fund servers, the website, our vacation homes, etc.

greenday5494

you sure this is legal? I know that it's voluntary and such, but, i heard teams running into trouble for even donations.

frvge

As long as the mod is free to download and use, it should be fine.
