Hey,

Thanks for your application.
Your work looks good to me, but I'm not an artist so I cant make a real judgement.

I have a few questions:
- Do have enough time for PS? Think roughly 1-2 hours a week at the very least. Do you have exams this year?
- Do you know the basics of modeling and texturing so you can make simple props and textures yourself?
- Do you have experience with Kismet/Material Editor/Cascade, and how long do you have experience with the Editor in total (include UT2004 etc if you want)?
- Do you have links to downloadable maps or other projects so we can check it out?
- Experience with SAM gameplay (aka Versus mode of the Splinter Cell series) is a plus, but not a necessity.

Thanks again :)

Thanks for the quick reply! :)

1. Yeah, i definately have more than a few hours a week to spend on the project.
2. I can do basic prop modeling with 3ds max, however i cannot UV map or texture them.
3. I have experience with kismet in terms of triggers etc... And also with the material editor. However im not familiar with cascade, because i have never needed to make my own particles, although im sure i can learn if its needed. And i have used the editor for just over two years by now i think. I started with UE2 with UT2k4, and moved onto UE3.
4. I have never uploaded maps to be honest, always just made personal maps for fun.
5. And yeah, i have beaten all of the Splinter Cell games, and am familiar with the multiplayer. :)

Some model examples:

And here is an example of a kismet setup for a small map i did. It just contains various sound cues, spawning enemies, matinee triggers etc...(Im telling you that also because you cant read it because of its size, but you get the idea!)

Looks nice IMO.

I'll start the internal voting-process. That'll probably take around 4 days. I'll get back to you ASAP.

Hello Verex,

To get back on frvge's question about texturing... can you make textures at all? Say you need a wooden texture for the floor, or a brick wall texture, would you be able to make it?

Lennard

EDIT:
Do you have any Photoshop skills, or have you never tried texturing.

Verex

yeah i can use photoshop, but i have never textured, because i never learnt how to UV map models. Although i dont think i would be able to make textures from scratch, maybe from a reference image, but not from scratch.

LennardF1989

Making BSP textures is basically creating a 512x512 image that tiles, no UV mapping or anything. I have no idea if Zedblade makes his textures from scratch or modifies existing image.

Verex

Oh, i thought you meant texturing models, but you meant as in textures like walls and floors.

But still i have never tried lol!

Gui Brazil

You should be able to do both, actually. IMO if you want to do a career out of this later on, UV'ing and texturing is a must.

I plan on being a programmer and go into the industry that way, by doing computer science in univeristy. A 3d app(UV-ing and texturing) will be something i learn, so i can be a more flexible member to a team.
