Are you more angry you paid full price for it or that they are releasing a sequel a year later. I guess they decided to try to make money off a sequel instead of just giving it away. I mean they are still a business and still have to pay programmers. I wouldn't pay $50 for the sequel but I would pay half that. To me I got $25 worth of enjoyment from the first one which is good as that's all I paid for it.

I also got L4D cheap. I would be okay with dropping $20-$30....not $50. Also, making the sequal a year later just seems too fast. Obviously not thinking as long term as you would imagine. The L4D community is still growing, now it might halt a bit b/c people want to wait for the 2nd. Valve didn't get what they were really looking for by releasing a sequel early.

i don't know shit about l4d, but from what i read here i'd say stop bitching and simply buy it when it's cheap...

If you don't know anything about it, why speak?

I also got it cheap, and it's still fun. Playing with strangers < playing with people you know.

Damn valve for giving us more awesome games. how dare they give us a completely new game in a franchise most of us love only a year later, which isn't just some weak ass expansion but an entirely new game with new everything. DAMN  THEY JUST LIKE UBI!11111

God you guys are fucking pathetic.

Oh come on, Zed, that's not fair.  It's been barely any time since the last one.  Companies should at least give the impression they're making a quality product rather than rushing it out to capture the popularity (and sales) leftover from the last one, while not making any serious dynamic gameplay changes/additions to the last one.

If I'm wrong when it comes out, then I'm wrong.

I don't really have a dog in this fight regarding releasing L4D2 vs. patching L4D; however, Zed, you of all people should know that it takes more than one year to pump out a sequel that will dramatically change anything for the better.

It's just so unlike valve.  We all know they release a game, release patches for it, support it, give it DLC and all that jazz, and their sequels and such take a while because they focus on quality NOT QUANTITY.  But, with the recent L4D2, it really seems they are breaking their style in order to drive in some moolah.  Not digging that.  But hey, if the game's good, I may check it out.  I'm not 'boycotting' like a lot of douchebags out there but I'm still stunned and a little dissapointed in valve.

I wouldn't put it all on Valve tbh. Remember, EA is the publisher and considering "Valveââ,¬â,,¢s acclaimed Leftââ,¬Â ââ,¬Â¬4ââ,¬Â ââ,¬Â¬Dead sold overââ,¬Â ââ,¬Â¬1.8ââ,¬Â ââ,¬Â¬million retail units inââ,¬Â ââ,¬Â¬2008,ââ,¬Â ââ,¬Â¬according to EA." and that doens't include the Steam sales. You can bet EA pushed Valve to release a second game instead of adding free content. All EA looks at is their bottom line. They stopped giving a rats ass about gamers a long time ago. It's all about money and I would think they have enough power to influence Valve. If they could sell another even 1 million units of L4D 2 at even $30 a pop, well you do the math.

QuoteIt's all about money
I hate to tell you, but it's always all about the money. Each company has a different philosophy on how to best make that money, but they're all being driven by profit motivation.

Valve has a reputation for such good support because its most popular game, Counter Strike, continues to make them money on the e-sports scene. It is therefore in Valve's best interest to keep the game as up to date and balanced as possible. If they had the online multiplayer base of say, SCCT, they would be making new games more often, too. Addtionally, let's not forget the multiple expansions they have released following HL-2; surely they are milking that game for all the money they can get. Companies don't make money by offering you free DLC and weekly patches; they make money by producing more games.

If you have an issue with a company's customer support, the best way to "send them a message" is to stop buying their stuff. However, these despite the plethora of complaints from 15 year olds on the 'net who probably didn't buy the game with their own money, these companies continue to produce games that sell well.

Spekkio may be onto something.  THE DEVS OF PROJECT STEALTH ARE GOING TO (secretly) PUT A PRICE TAG ON THE GAME!  What do you want Kebab?  90 bucks?!  Well I'll give it to ya!  PERSONALLY, even.

so long as at least a beta is released this year or early next year

Meh, according to MSUC, it has to be free. What happens after MSUC is still unknown. We'll see.

I think you're confusing a bunch of guys doing something in their spare time with professional developers.
