Or you only have one game mode and thus people try to play DM in story mode, equalling less good games.

BUTTT that all depends on the host.
Agent, let's keep them seperated. With Deathmatch mode in big letters on the server list attracting the lemmings, us story players would have the players we wanted and none of the people we didn't.
PS: By the way I managed to get Chaos Theory from the old house and correct me if I'm wrong....but weren't YOU in a deathmatch server??!! :o

An upcoming novel by me.
Melonie from SC forums made this sig =D

Westfall

Deathmatch is only good for aggro training. Otherwise quit the game.

From my quick skim of the other posts I don't think it was mentioned.

But I personally would like Story mode and Deathmatch, BUT story mode as of Pandora Tomorrow. Since if memory serves me right, Chaos Theory's story mode consisted of each area usually being a different type of "Objective". Such as:

A.) Blow S up

B.) Hack this S

and

C.) Take this S back to your Spawn

I liked it better when you could specify what type of gameplay you actually wanted to play.

Neutralization, Sabotage, and Extraction. (Especially liked Sabotage, if only because it was fun finding buggy places where you could set your little panel hacker thing. Which I understand was redone in CT with fixed bombing spots, but that wasn't as fun)

Just something I'm a little picky about, but I know the option must be possible.

Technically, the mapper can do whatever he likes. So it's up to the mapper.

That's true, forgot you were going for a more mod friendly environment.

In that case, yes make a option for both. End point. :D

That's what made CT map specific. There were just the  "neutralize 3 objectives," but then you had the option to do sector maps, which I was okay with because it added life to certain maps. I hope PS will have "wittier" objectives in mind.

As frvge said, it's up to the mapper.

I understand adding longevity to the life of maps, but as I as I said before. Just a personal preference. I don't truly remember everything about Story mode when it came to specific maps in CT, but I know that some at least had the multiple objective types mandatory when you play story mode. Some of those maps being ones I liked to play, and thus less fun to play on story mode because of such.

I guess now that I look back on it, and in light of frvge's response, the real thing I want brought back is Sabotage mode from PT. Buggy as hell (Planting the hacker outside of rooms), but also the funnest game of hide and seek with a little gadget I've ever had with SvM. Replaced in CT with Sabotage, bomb style.

I have an idea for a possible variation to the story mode.  IDK if it would work or even if it is a good idea.  Maybe it is stupid, but there is nothing to lose so I guess I will just post it anyway.

The spiesââ,¬â,,¢ mission would consist of a six step method.  It may not work on all maps, but ones such as Lakehouse could work.

Phase 1:  Infiltrate the building/location and reach one of the computers.  Place a disk into the computer.  (Disk drop off equivalent)

Phase 2:  Hack the same computer to access the entire computer network and connect all computers through the mainframe.  (Hacking computer equivalent)

Phase 3:  Start the download of files.  The download begins on all computers but may only be interrupted by the mercs at the computer in which it was initially started.  If it is interrupted, the download may be continued on any of the other computers, but it must be stopped by the mercs at the computer in which that session began.  (Bomb equivalent)

Phase 4:  Once the download is completed, the spy must hack any of the computers again to save the data and copy it onto a disk.  (Hacking computer equivalent)

Phase 5:  Retrieve the data and return to the initial location.  If the disk is dropped, it will stay in that spot until the merc retrieves it or the time expires and the disk goes back into the computer.  If the spy wishes to get the disk from the same computer, he will only need to grab the already saved disk.  However, if he wants to grab the disk from a different computer, he must repeat phase 4 on that computer before proceeding to phase 5.  (Disk grab equivalent)

Phase 6:  Drop the disk at the initial location.  (Disk drop off equivalent)

The good news with this idea is that it would not require any new assets, and it should be fairly easy to implement.  Any thoughts on this?  Obviously it would be a whole new game mode that would have a new name, but it would be similar to story.

Kind of like planting a bomb with a really big fuse then running away.  It could work I guess.
