So, guys...
Mic told me in March on SCL; "TBH, we're pretty damn close with PS. I'd estimate just a few months out."

So I'm left wondering, it's now nearing the end of May... roughly how far off are you guys from producing a playable open-beta?

"When it's done" is not an acceptable answer.  :-*

Yeah it is.

I say you give a release date and release it to the public unfinished and then laugh when people whine when there are animations missing and no maps.   :D

Zedblade, tell me that you lol'd because it's really only a few weeks out.  Tell me.

My personal deadline of having something out in the public is begin august, the more official answer is: When we're done and feel like it's ready a for a public beta.

Lennard, are you BLIND!??!

"When it's done" isn't good, 'cause people tend to forget all about something and stop paying attention to it (as I have done with Black Mesa Source, with their "When it's done" attitude). Things never get done without some kind of deadline.

Even personal ones, as the one you mentioned Lennard.

It's good to keep the community interested in what you're doing, keep them looking forward to something rather than just sitting back and wondering what's going on/if it will ever be complete, 'cause nothing ever happens.

I've read you topic:

I disagree because deadline is a deadline, personal or not. It shows that you have plan to make something done.

I agree with you opinion about

I would also loose my interest if i don't see any progress for a long time

LennardF1989

We could say it's done next week, but we would only let you down if it isn't and we push it forward another week and another week and another one. Therefor, when we feel like it's close to a public release we will mention a date somehow, not a minute earlier.

Okay, Comic... so you read my post.
But you sure as hell didn't understand it.

And Lennard, you could SAY that, but that's not a deadline, is it? A deadline is a set goal for the team to work toward. Give everyone a little motivation to get things moving a little quicker.

Not all deadlines can be met of course (look at Gran Turismo 5), but even if you can't quite meet the deadline set, if there's enough media releases to keep the people interested, then they'll be willing to wait without forgetting about the whole project.

Where's the deadline? I'll let you know when we find it.

If my heart ever heals, I will make sure it'll never break again.
