hey folks, recently i became aware that tons of people (including myself) spend/waste way more hours on web 2.0 crap like facebook, twitter, blogs etc. than they get out in worthwhile rl-hours.
now i'm wondering whether it's just a hype and it all will calm down or if we look into a future dominated by wasting half out wake time on pointless communication. maybe there's even a way to make this habit somehow productive?

What is pointless about social interaction? I use Facebook myself and I don't see it as a means of wasted time, it depends how you use it really.

Social Media is a hype, IMO. I doubt Twitter/Facebook/Hyves/whatever will still be as popular as it is now in the coming few years. Eventually it's getting overused, which results in the same effect as seeing one celebrity on TV too much.
