No no no no, I didn't mean that at all you missed the point, If you look through the window and into the ceilling, you can see the spy being tracked if he is not sneaking, now if you would do that without a window it would not work. Motion would not pick it up through the ceilling, that why now I do not shoot the windows and hoping that the spies would not either...

imba

Then I still don't understand, do you mean MT gets triggered even when there is a solid ceiling in front of the spy (as in: your naked eye isn't able to see the spy, even if there wouldn't be any shadows)?

Ok imagine this, you are in a museum level, inside cafe.
If a spy sneaks through the ceilling on top, He should be invisible right?

Now there are 2 ways to abuse this and make it not so.

First: EMF Ghosting, you use EMF and your high resolution to see the black sillhoute.
Second: Motion Tracking through a window.

Now you know that in Cafe if you look at the front of the computer, on the left there are 3 windows.

If you are inside the cafe you will not see the spy with motion vision through the ceilling that only works with EMF.

Now to get Motion Vision to see the spy, he can go behind those windows so that he is looking through the window and sees the ceilling.

If a spy does not sneak, he gets detected by motion vision ONLY if you are behind the window. Behind the texture of the see through window.

Remember it only works if he is NOT sneaking. (Meaning the dust particles will show)

So are you gonna fix imba thermal or what? I mean, it's kinda unfair that spies can see every damn mine/trap/defense from infinite distance along with detecting mercs visually through many walls and never really needing to use NV because it lets you see in the dark (yea that's a run-on sentence but so what).

Snakebit.

Hey spekk , to be honest here , you didn't see obsticales that well in thermal , it is just players learned to run all rounds with them on and kinda knew where everything was already.

So thermals had downsides.

Spekkio

The only 'downside' to thermal was that you could be seen in EMF...which really didn't matter all that much because you could be seen in EMF without thermal, anyway.

If it didn't make mines visible then properly placed lasers would be pretty much impossible to spot.

You can't see for infinite distance using thermal actually, the distance is faded out. I've never found thermal unbalanced whilst playing as a merc either, with all my defensive gadgets and visions.

No.

Well, I guess thermal isn't unbalanced.. if someone put mine wrong ofcourse it will be visible and easy to notice behind a corner :P

you think a little crosshair or something could show up when placing mines as merc? in CT i know it's pretty easy to get used to but in all fairness where you're aiming and where it's placed is a little confusing, not to mention places where the geometry doesn't allow.
I think merc should plant mine in center of standard cross-hair. But we'll see it's not the most important thing for this moment.
