Yeah, but they're the same staples that Doom (and Wolfenstien before it) created. While that's all fine and dandy, the lack of vision shows it's age.

I think your lack of knowing anything about the guns in Wolf 3d shows your age.

...mhm...

Thanks for jamming together two unrelated posts. One talking only about guns I know will be in Doom 4. The other saying that while, sure, the guns in both doom and wolfenstein games were generic; little in games had evolved until the introduction of "REAL guns". Which in it of itself is the progression that it was inevitably going to take. Until even more recently they've only been cosmetic upgrades at that. Now a days we have pixel perfect replicas of real guns, with developers even going out and catching the real sounds to use in game. That still leaves most fantasy-like fiction games, with guns and no restriction of "Realism", that will still use the same things, with little creativity attached.

Doom will strive to make it's "World" unique, even with it's guns, but the wrinkles have shown in Doom 3 (in my opinion), and I don't expect much to change with this new iteration.

But yeah, you're right. Those particular guns weren't in Wolfenstein. Boo hoo

If that "same staples that Doom (and Wolfenstien before it) created" line wasn't talking about the guns in your list, what exactly was it talking about then? Because those posts look pretty related to me!

I assumed people would fill in the cracks of what I meant when saying, "Staples that *insert game* *oh and the nazi version that came before it* created". Much like I'm assuming you can fill in what those two games are without me actually typing them.

The statement was meant to encompass all those that they both put on the table. Apparently I didn't word it right. Mah bad.

30 fps lock on consoles? That's really disappointing.

Look at versus, but still, I just really hope there is something that developers can make to actually make a game scary.

Fail horror games:

L4D, Typical zombie swarm.

Amnesia, Typical crap with the event of taking a key/pipe/dildo/book/note and a monster comes out to slap you, like the guy on the video said they have key/pipe/dildo/book/note senses are tingling!

Doom 3, Same typical stuff, but one thing is nice is that the monsters come out of nowhere and you never expect them.

Fear was great, honestly, the short scenes of the girl popping there and there were awesome, but the typical "Creaking doors, falling rubble, and wind effects sucked...

Here's a quote from the wikipedia page you linked to.

"There are suggestions that, like Doom 2, it will take place on Earth, and will feature gameplay more akin to the original Doom games rather than the horror styled gameplay of Doom 3."

I actually really wanted to not believe and ignore that part of the wikipedia's info, and if that is true, what the hell is the new Doom 4 then? Doom was always about horror and fear...

Doom had scary elements (monsters, setting). I wouldn't say it was all about horror and fear though. Doom 3 really was the one that tried to make horror a big thing.

It's the difference between having a scary looking monster, and having any monster jump out of a shadow where you wouldn't expect.

I would hope there is more "gore" though. You walk through satanic halls with blood and bodies everywhere... let me blow an imps arm off. More often than whenever I happen to stumble upon a berserk power-up.

Looking back, I'm not sure how I found these scary...

must be the eyes... something about the eyes... Oh wait, that ones invisible

Go play Tricks and Traps/Dead Simple/Barrels of Fun and stop making a fool outta yourself.

I swear, next thing y'know you'll be claiming Fallout was always an FPS or Final Fantasy started on the Playstation or something.
