What do you expect in Doom 4?

I don't know how long I missed about this information that Doom 4 is coming out, but damn they sure have a quite a good start! Xbox 360 and PS3 will have 30 FPS Lock, while PC's will be at 60, which is great because a lot of the games being ported from consoles are always on 30 FPS, and it's expected from the community to make a program to be runned with it and unlock the frames to whatever specified by the user (SCCT Frame Unlocker)

So what you guys think they will have to offer?

I would like to see a lot more gore, because when I started Doom 3 it was a bit crap, I am not complaining because I started Doom 3 in 2010, so yeah obviously it's out of date.

I'm guessing there's going to be monsters in it

What do you expect in those monsters?

More specific? And more writing plox :P

Cronky

I expect them to have an intricate network of organs. Organs optional only upon enemies that are of pure skeleton form. In such cases though, they should have rocket launchers.

^^^ picture is of one such demon I would expect, in the skinless variety.

I want to be able to shoot their head off and that process would not kill them :P

I see what you did there, Cronky.

I expect it to have a 12 year development cycle that goes through the next 2 generations and then I expect it to be cancelled and sold to the nearest dev team that just made a hit shooter.

DreadStunLock

Farley you made me lol with a new signature.

Anyway back to the topic: I doubt Doom 4 will go into that category, I mean come on, Doom 3 came out and then Ressurection of Evil came shortly after it? What made you think of that Farley?

I think Farley is thinking too small.

I expect it to have a 12 year development cycle that goes through the next 2 generations and then I expect it to be canceled and sold to the nearest dev team that just got THEIR game canceled and sold to the nearest dev team that just made a hit shooter. They will spend another 12 years, through another 2 generations, and then get canceled and sell it to the nearest dev team that just made a hit shooter.

It's the only logical progression.

Doom is going to be what Doom always is.

A slightly dated feeling game with graphics that look nice, but not overly nice. Enough scary things to be scary, but not enough substance to make the world TRULY interesting. Doom 3 was okay, and went the audio bit route to flesh out the world, but in the end... I personally didn't care for anything in there. You knew before you started that story-wise you were just going to be in another space station that somehow gets linked to the portals of hell.

Some will say, "yeah! But that's DOOM. Little story, all action! You're a nameless space marine that fights through hell!". True as that is, it's always going to feel stale after your first time through. Even when I go back play Doom 1 or 2 I just end up playing the first couple levels then going, "Yup, I know it doesn't get much different than this".

So for all it's worth, I'm now looking forward to Doom 4 much like I'm looking forward to another Wolfenstien or 2D Mario game. Not necessarily because of what it COULD be, but because nostalgia reminds me that it is something I'm supposed to look forward to.

:::EDIT:::

Oh right, and here are the general weapons:

-Fists (probably with spiked knuckles)
-Chainsaw
-Pistol
-Shotgun
-Plasma Rifle
-Rocket Launcher
-BFG

Those are just the ones that I KNOW will be in there

Well from what you listed seems very....normal and basic to have? Who doesn't want a shotgun against monsters/zombies?

Cronky

Yeah, but they're the same staples that Doom (and Wolfenstien before it) created. While that's all fine and dandy, the lack of vision shows it's age. While their newer IP's like Rage look to be vastly superior to DOOM in almost every way; DOOM itself is only changing itself cosmetically.

DOOM thus far to me has done what older men/women do to their bodies with surgery to make it look like they're better off than they actually are.

Nostalgia is keeping DOOM alive, much like Duke Nukem... quality of the game(s) has been par for the course in the modern age of gaming.

(keep in mind these are my opinions)
