@Dread:
If you want feedback on it from the PS Devs like Binary, create your own topic and learn to post Wireframes and smooth shaded versions, rather than just rendered.

Besides that, this one is heavily over-done, way too shiny, try toning down the reflection a little so you can at least see you're looking at an ash-tray on a table. You go for realism, as I presume, so you must know a wooden table is not that shiny...

DreadStunLock

That's the problem, I can't bloody figure it out how the hell to turn off the damn transparency on the table because for some reason the background image decided to be a douche and make my plane transparent and making it very ugly :S

Though the good thing is I will be replacing the wood texture with my own pretty soon....

But thanks for the tip Lennard.

P.S: It's a classic ashtray, it's my first model since 3 years :/ I had to give up 3D modelling because the laptop would severely overheat on rendering :(

Farley4Fan

Well I can see the ashtray now.  I guess the table is in the arctic and there is a guy in a canoe nearby?

DreadStunLock

Yeah the image was randomly found on the net and I just pasted it the reason was:

The first tutorial was showing how to make a smooth classic ashtray.

But then I thought I will try to find a tutorial on glass, so I did and they said in the tutorial get something arctic for a good effect, so I just randomly found it just so there is something to reflect :)

But the transparency thing is pissing me off cause I don't have a clue how to remove it :"(

If creating things for games is something you want to do, you should be looking at tutorials for polygon modeling and in game asset creation. Messing around with pre-rendered tutorials won't really teach you much in the way of game content creation.

frvge

Then again, distributed real-time raytracing might be the future. :P

Definitely, right now I am going over the Max 09 Essentials and more working on Max 9 than 11, cause Max 11 does not have any simple tutorials to follow :/ Maybe it does but I can't find any.

But of course I always switch everyday like I said before: Drawing by hand(Day 1), Drawing with a tablet on PShop(Day2), 3D Model, Animation, Life model drawing and Proportions. So it's quite a busy day :D

Ok, Tidenburgs is enough. :) To clarify, the Editor vid of last week was 'it'.

Hahahaha, I like how bad this was in comparison to Frvge's... whatever those are called.

You wanted something more like: Adults these days, they promise you a hand and instead just give you the finger*. ;)

*Example of the finger... you know... just in case... http://thefinger.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/kidfinger.jpg
If you haven't noticed, I'm REALLY good at making a simple response into a wall of text.
