What's everyone's thoughts on the Wii U (or Wii-U) (Or WiiU)?

Looks interesting to say the least, in my opinion. I want to know what the price will be, and also what graphics look in game (that thoroughly stress the hardware). I'm not one to say that graphics are EVERYTHING for a console to sell well (the wii proved that), but I do think that Nintendo did lose a bit of ground by not giving much in terms of graphical capability (in comparison to the current market). Their rumored claims that it will be AS, if not MORE, powerful than the PS3 and 360 just has me wondering what the final price will be.

The big controller also looks weird. I find it funny to see that it's pretty much just all their "extra" controllers for the Wii mashed together with a touch screen. It begs the question though of how much those controllers will cost. And more importantly... will they come with a safety strap!?!?! I saw one video (Link) that had you flinging the controller downwards. Also a video on how Wii Golf involves you putting this controller on the ground... that's a dangerous way to play with your expensive new toy.

I'm glad that you can use Wii-motes with it though. It would be a refreshing change to see a console that didn't demand you buy all brand new controllers just because they decided to make a system (granted using Gamecube controllers was a mostly viable option on the wii). Though I wonder if developers will make games that require you to have multiples of this bigger touchscreen controller... that could get spendy.

Side note::
In that video linked up above it shows a max of 5 people playing. I'm wondering what their max number of players will be. 5 may sound like a lot, but it would be crazy to see something like a Mario Kart game that could potentially have say... 8 players (4 Big Controllers, 4 Wii-motes).

Or a split screen FPS game that finally eliminates screen peeking for good!
::End Side note

The line up of games also seems good so far. Another Super Smash Bros, Mario, Zelda, etc etc. will all be nice. Third party line up sounds pretty good with Batman being ported over as a big deal in my mind, amongst others. This begs the question of whether their Online service is going to get an overhaul.

tl;dr version: Wii-U. I like what I see. Graphically, how powerful will this be? The Big Controller looks weird. The game lineup looks pretty solid. Will online functionality change (Friend codes... who thought that was a good idea)? How much is this going to cost me??

That's about all I got to say about it at this moment.

I estimate the price will by around ~225 euro. Could be they'll make it slightly more expensive than a 3DS though.

The quality of the E3 show steams were not always great even on HD so it's hard to tell exactly how much better the GFX will be. But even including that some games still looked a LOT better than currently available.

For those who like Wii Sports, they better not use the golf club extension!

Every game which I am looking forward to was demo'd showing a level/cutescene on a boat. Are they the 'in' thing this year?

Yeah man wtf is up with the boats

I bet the wii u will be 299 at launch and stay that way for a long time.

It looks amazing, but I was actually really impressed by the PS Vita, and that awesome split-screen technology on Sony's 3D screen.

I would definitely assume it would cost more than the 3DS. I would be amazed to see a handheld game device cost more than it's console brethren.

I've got to agree on the Stream quality not being good for judgement of graphical quality. I saw their tech demo for it, but it was a little hard to see past the pixelly-ness for me.

Golf Club Extension... I foresee new youtube videos on the Wii-U launch. Big touchscreen controllers jumping into people's TVs.

Didn't you know Boats are the new Zombies? There's going to DLC in near every game now a days that is like "Red Dead Redemption: Nautical Nightmares".

Ninja Gaiden started as a Nintendo exclusive, and Tekken started as a Sega exclusive.
