Imagine how the people who bought it moments before it went free-to-play feel like.

Well, you can still buy premium in-game from the Man Co store apparently, which lets you find and use better gear and enables advanced crafting blueprints. So you do still get SOMETHING, plus your backpack is massively bigger.

I am pretty good at TF2 :) Logged 312 hours according to Steam :)

I've got 220 hours and I'm STILL terrible. 300 hours must be the epiphany point. Where I'll finally understand how to play any one class effectively. As of now I just run around hope for the best.

...Or go sniper. Everyone is okay at Sniper.

Everyone ok at Sniper?! That's a terrible lie, I am shit at sniper even though I have like >1 hours on it xD

Cronky

You're just terrible at everything considering you have >2 hours on the WHOLE game. ;)

Uhm...   ">" = "more than..."

So ">1 hour" could be 99999999999999999999999999999999 hours... trololol

Oh... Mine wasn't a greater than sign. It was a mouth. The 2 was actually an alligator in disguise. ;)

So I noticed you randomly get items during a match but how random is that? Do you also get items when you complete an achievement?

Seems kind of lame you need to spent a lot of time gathering materials to craft a gun when you can just buy it for € 0.37 cents.

I found a box so it gave me a good reason to buy something, the key, and also upgrade my account to premium.

Oh and also. This game is from 2007 right? Then how come there aren't many different items for each class/general yet? Compare it to say Battlefield Heroes I would've expected more.

I still can't get into it, I wish there was an Unreal Tournament shooter as popular as Black Ops :( I would have play that day and night :/

I don't know an exact amount of time before you get a random drop, it's random from what I've gathered. I've gotten 1 weapon in a day, then another day I've gotten like 5 weapons (some dropped more than 1 at a time). It's the reason why Idle servers were created. At one point you unlocked weapons via achievements, but it caused most all people to only play a new class when a new update came out (considering new achievements came out on those days too.). Granted people still play one class when a new update comes out... it's less so mainly because you need the new stuff. Which until the MannCo store could take a while (I still don't have a lot of the new weapons). As to whether you still unlock weapons via achievements... I don't believe so, but I may be wrong.

You CAN buy access to a weapon early, but crafting/just playing gives an alternative to getting access to weapons. Since a random drop doesn't mean randomly getting a weapon you don't have (I have upwards to like 5 of a certain weapons, but 0 of another), crafting gives a purpose to those unused weapons. Crafting and the MannCo store are new additions added only like 6 months ago, so crafting was for people who have been gathering weapons since 2007. Currently the crates are the only things you NEED to buy something to gain access to. Though for some crates there is a special reward for opening it, such as a "Strange" weapon, which gains different titles as you kill with it, titles that get announced to everyone in the game you're in.

...Not a lot of different items though? Each class has upwards to like 6 different items for each slot (Primary Weapons, Secondary Weaopns, Hat, Accessory), most of which have varying attributes. Considering that this game is based more on close combat (even the sniper isn't that far from the combat), they are pretty balanced. Some weapons even have some interesting attributes that aren't just, "This does this much damage versus this similar gun".

I only played a tiny bit of Battlefield Heroes, so I wont go pretending I know anything about it, but they seemed to have different focuses when it came to combat. TF2 you are always in the middle of the action, or mere seconds away. Battlefield Heroes I remember running around a bit and not seeing people. Partly because I was bad at the game, but also because the maps were more open than even the biggest TF2 map.

But fast paced UT style games aren't popular. Console players don't like them because they're unplayable with controllers, and most PC players don't like them either because aiming is too hard for them. Popular and fast paced are pretty much mutually exclusive when it comes to FPS these days.

I think we're just gonna have to stick with CoD for now.

But COD is so fast paced there are predator missiles and i can throw a tomahawk 40 yards and get a headshot and right after call in my tactical nuke because its so tactical and stuff and everyone goes AHHHHH MAH GAWD IT'S A NUKE and i'm just like 'fuk ya' and then before the nuke goes off i throw a sticky nade and i get a triple kill and its all like BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAM and then the nuke goes off and is all like CCCCCCRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I think TF2 has a good pace to it.

TF2 is quite fast paced FPS, but I just want the futuristic environment, with cool armored dudes and weapons, as well as awesome modes like the bombing run and double domination :(
