Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

Nah, punishing should be counted every round from the moment of creating a server, so any player that does not play his round in any of the teams would automatically be punished.

Kurbutti

We don't need this. I don't want to jeopardize my gaming exprience because of knowing the world is full of idiotic hosts.

Daybreak

I'm telling you right now people will take advantage of this system.
Hell just to piss people off, if I were host, just before I leave I'd punish players. Then you ruin their night. Honestly, who wouldn't do that just to piss people off.

interogation rooms... Spy sticky foam that keeps them from moving... a punish system... a rep system...
I can't wait for you guys to come up with the next thread.

Bionic-Blob

how about a some sort of global tracking system then. that measures your spy/merc ratio.

SvM has been out for what, 4 years? Has anyone on here NOT gotten their fair share of spy rounds already?

When I was new to the game it was a big thing to want to play spy because it's so different. Now I could care less.

Sadly, there are still far to many Spy-whores out there, and I've run across my share of players that REFUSE to play Spy because they do terribly at it.  Not really all that fun to play your Spy round, then argue with the person who wont switch sides because he hates playing Spy, and then you end up kicking him and having to wait for another to join.  Sadly, I think people only wanting to play one side will be something that will happen regardless of how long SvM has been in existence.

@ Blob:

Ya, see that's alright. I'm also a big fan of tracking stats. I'm sure that can be done, but it would be a nice to have.

God, I wanted this so bad in CT. In non-ranked servers, that is. lol.
A merc accuracy indicator would be awesome to see, as well, but I guess I'm going a bit too far with this.

Farley4Fan

This could also lead to problems like if someone was punished and they left by accident or had to leave.  Then the next game the punished person joins there is only a spot left on spy.  The way to override  this would be to give the host he just joined the power to take away his punishment.

Gui Brazil

Blob's tracking system seems way better, tbh.

Zedblade

Horrible idea.

There was a tracking system in PT and CT. It just only tracked ranked games. Make all games be tracked and we are set.

So? If someone wants to play only spy or only merc, that's their perogative. It's also your perogative whether or not you choose to stay in their server or let them stay in yours. I really don't see the big deal here. Why is it a rule that someone has to play both sides? Hell, sometimes I make servers titled "free spy rounds" cuz I don't feel like playing spy. If you don't like that, then don't join my server. Problem solved.

Making a game called "Free Spy Rounds" is totally acceptable.  If I were to join that game, I would be expecting to only play Spy, as would anybody else who joined.  However, it has become an unwritten "rule" in SC that revenge is given after each round, and most players adhere to that and expect it.  When one player refuses to do that, it messes things up for the other three, especially if that player does not make it clear beforehand that they have no attention of playing as a Spy or Merc.  If they want to state it outright, and everybody is ok with it, I have no problems with it.  Hell, I don't mind only playing Spy or only playing Merc, it's practice.  I also have a partner, and usually he and I don't mind only playing one side.  Typically though, the person who only plays one side does not have a partner, which means that the fourth person in the game is getting a bit screwed over.

Kick/ban is all you need against idiots. This time, when it's done right, you should see a lot less pricks around after a couple of months of gaming.

I'm also up for a tracking system, mostly for personal reference, but you should still be able to compare it with friends.

Nitro

Might be wrong place to post this but i have been doing some WC3 latley and there the community have made a Global banlist.

It works kinda simple:
It detects ingame players, it query their database to show where they are from and ping.
You can create your own bans and notes on the different players but it wont go global until a "approved global host" have put his ban down. This means that a player have to get several bans from regular banlists then get reported into one of the global banners.

In a way its the same like your ranking system but you can keep it cleaner since i have a feeling alot of winners will be blacklisted. (how many smurfnames do the old good veterans have in CT? :)

Just a thought...

i want this for all games + an indicator which team you played the last game.
for all games of course, i don't want to see rank in ps anyway.
