Possible Sound Reticule for Spies? New heartbeat suggestions?

Gawain.  How the hell can you play creatively with a small choice of gadgets?  You sure as hell can't really use them in a creative way either.  The reason good players SUPPOSEDLY stopped playing isn't because the small, minor, bugs. 

i suggest the possibilities will increase dramatically. do some math and figure out what only one or two more useful gadgets do to the possible gadget combination.

lol.  If you think about it, there would be a lot more possibilities for loadouts.  Minor changes increasing possibilities?  HOW?  It will just change the possibilities, not make more.  Maybe you should do some math and see how many more possibilities there will be with new stuff.  Even with not that much.

Well, I've stop playing it a whole lot because it's not as intense as it once was.  It's gotten pretty predictable.  Is it the people I play with?  Meh, don't think so.  This is just what happens after a game gets years old.  It's not as fresh as it was in the beginning.

it will be fresh: new/fixed graphics, new/fixed sound, new/fixed gadgets (that make actually sense not like your suggestions; fixing the ct ones is enough for the beginning and probably for a long time), better net code, hopefully larger player base, new maps,...
1.  Graphics don't make the game.  Example: Crysis.  Amazing graphics, decent gameplay.  If you give Crysis even better graphics it won't keep the game fresh for a longer amount of time.  And what new gadgets do you suggest?  My gadgets do make sense.  Just not to you.  Think outside the box-again.

We've been trying to talk about this new gadget. No other new gadget has been spoken about aside from fixes, new nades, and maybe a drone (for merc). And it sucks when you only get input from like...2 devs. Got anything else for us to talk about 01010101010?

No, every gadget I've thought of I think it through before considering a post to make sure it would be useful. So far I can't think of anything. But, I don't have time to spend on that when I've got other things in PS that I need to be focusing on. Then there's that whole real life thing that takes up a good chunk of my time.

As I've said before.  Just because YOU speculate that YOU won't find a use for it, doesn't mean that it WILL be useless.  Just like WE speculate how it will be useful, we really can't.  Imo, it should be tested.  A lot of people have thought that.  This was off the top of my head, obviously it wasn't very well thought out.  Brainstorming.  That is what you are supposed to do when you are making something.  You need to get all of the ideas out there then you throw the good ones into it.  If this doesn't develop into a good idea that's fine, we can move on, you are right about that.  But as of now, just because we have a split opinion on this as a community I still believe we should discuss a little more and work out the kinks.

There aren't that many new ideas that can be brought to the table because of how style-specific PS is. Thats why when there a gadget that comes up, such as this, its kind of like a "eureka!" Trying to think within the limits of what the game IS makes it quite difficult to throw any new gadget ideas out there. I want to start beta testing and playing the game so we as a community can fix it, add new ideas, take things away, and possibly help produce a decent game with excellent feedback. You shouldn't allow every1 to beta test either.

1. I considered the use of this gadget and the features suggested from the viewpoint of your average player.

2. I look at what we are already providing the players in the way of recon tools - Sound, Visions, Life Sensor, A shootable tracking and radar device, Cams.

3. I take into account what the player provides themselves with - knowledge of the map layout, knowledge of the strategies employed by each team and how to use those strategies against their oponant, deception, quick thinking and adaptation to the unexpected.

None of the suggested features are something your average player can't accomplish with the visual and audio queues already in place, and a little practice.

So there you have it. There's the reasoning I use when considering the viability of an addition to PS.

I see your logic.  But you are failing to realize something.  If you hear something you only know the direction it came from, not the actual pinpointed spot.  And even then, you don't know the exact direction.  You'd still have a wide range of directions.  Maybe this gadget would even amplify the sound for you so you can tell what the sound was. (if the reticule detects the sound of a merc planting a mine, it would amplify the sound for you so you can tell that he was planting something.  Although, you wouldn't know what he was planting.)  On top of that this gadget gives you an easy communications hacking ability.  Other gadgets don't give you a very easy way to do that without exposing your position.

As I also said after what you quoted me on, we can't really tell if it would be useless or useful.  This is something that would need to be tested to see for sure.
