Just got a hand-me-down PSP ...and noticed it has a really bad framerate 10fps or so...making it unplayable and really long load times (10 minutes for Daxter).

How to speed things up?  I cant believe this would be the expected standard for it.  

model version 1004  if it helps.  (no umd cache)


also, do you play directly off of the disk?  or do you save the game manage to play of of memor stick for better performance?

This short film I have been working on as Lead Modeler and Texture Artist has finally been released. Its already winning awards at Malibu Film festival and will be making a tour in other festivals. I am quite happy with the results!


Special credits to Gui and Binary for providing 3d assets for the city.

And for those that dont know,  2 animators on this film project have contributed to our animations of the spy.  Some of the talent behind this have worked on Matrix,  Star Wars, and a ton of other big films.

Just thought i would share with you how animation is done and the time involved.

This one is about the technical issues that all games (including us) are facing.  If you remember how in CT you could glitch because an animation had to play out before you could continue to the next state. The basic rule is this,  long and beautiful animations that take away player control (player can do nothing until animation is finished)  OR short and fast animations that lack weight or any kind of realism to it.

I remember how people complained about the DA animations,  but they were done so fast in order for the player to have faster control  as opposed to the sluggish feel of CT.

Just so you know...

banning is useless with proxies.


But if I dont like something that is posted,  I have no shame in deleting it.  I wont be able to keep up with garbage posted here at times, especially when all of you know SCLamers is intended for exactly this.  I dont even visit the public forums anymore because I do not have time to sift through flame wars to find real topics.

Also,  I am not your mom,  so I am not going to do the UBI moderator thing and ask you all to respect each other.  No,  its quite simple.  I dont like it,  I delete it.  I dont give out warnings and I am not even going to attempt at being unbiased or fair about it.

We need animation referance of the merc in motion.

Can 2 of you guys record a video of the merc doing all of his animations?

They need to be front and side.

It needs 2 people because Spy needs to record vid.

Also, will need referance from 3rd person camera of merc.  This camera is viewable when merc dies and can view his partner.

There is of course the beserk and charge....


but here is a simple but effective addition to his arsenel  that would  very easy to add to the game (easy to implement with little work)


Tossing a proxy mine to the ground near his feet.

How it works:
mine is in the load out,  when near a wall,  merc attaches mine to wall.  When no wall is near,  he tosses it a foot in front of him and it is always a proxy.


This is effectively the same thing as dropping a grenade at your feet,  except it gives the merc a chance to escape the radius of the explosion.

All mines have  1 second delay of course from being turned on(just like CT).  -so Spies still have a chance to escape, and then shoot the mine.  If they immediately dive away,  they should also be able to escape.


This would allow for creative placement of mines-- like tossing them into vents,  over ledges in situations like ledg grabs.

take note the reason why i have changed names , but also enhanced functionality.

Bots:  emits sounds that set off merc reticle.....

-very small,  and when shot on to a surface will immedietly move acrossed surface in a random direction to set off sounds from a different location

-if shot onto a security device,  will behave a like a parasite and continuously set off that device


BioSensor  :  attached to Spy tazer,  when tazer is active,  all living entities will glow,  they not only appear on radar,  but glow through walls ,  Bio sensor only works within field of view of the spy.

Bug: similar size to bots,  but behave exactly like the biosensor by lighting up  all nearby lifeforms, allowing to see them through walls.  It is possible to attach these to lifeforms in order to track their movements.

WiFi :  Merc has the ability to log into security network wirelessly,  allowing him to view any cameras in the network.  Cameras come in 2 standards.  1.  Native networks,  these are passive and cannot be controlled and lack any enhanced visions.  2.  Hi level networks,  uses the same technology the merc posseses and with shock resistent armor.  Hi level networks are established via Cam Grenades which are launched from the weapon.  they can still be destroyed from explosives.

Phosphorous Grenades:  emit bright and intense light upon explosion, but also the substance sticks to the surface and burns for several seconds,  causing severe burns to anyone that touches it.

Our Animator needs video referance of the spy in motion.


Please post any existing links of CT or DA vids for him.

Also, if you guys want to help him out,   we need vids of spy doing all animations from multiple angles (front and side)

Make this a place to post your pictures of vision modes.

A couple of basic rules,  this is only visual style,  NOT a new vision mode(sound vision, xray vision, combat vision).  Visions will still have the basic functionality of CT visions -even if MT is debateable.  So if you dont like the current MT, post an ingame screenshot of a CT game, and color correct it in Photoshop to show the style of the vision mode.

Also, if you know of another game with cool vision modes....post those as well to see if we can come up with something new.

Post your idea and prepare to get flamed.

What do you guys think of "back to wall" like singleplayer -so that when you approach walls you automatically do a back to wall and can then walk along the wall like that. To exit the position you need only move away from wall....so no need for  a key press to do the animations.

This could open doors in map design where you could walk through narrow gaps and along narrow ledges.


And standing on Rails?

I think we should be able to do something passable...but not rail camping.

ie: spies can stand-walk-crouch-crouch walk-jump on rails but not run more then 3-4 steps
mercs can stand or walk for 3-4 seconds before losing balance.

This allows for the much needed jumping over rails, but remove the camping tactics.

I am getting ready to publish a 176 full color pages Sci-Fi Graphic Novel

That Epic is hiring, and I sent my portfolio, with pictures of the Spy.  That means the art directors of Epic just might be looking at our website.

Dont know if I will get any work with them....but why the hell not?
