General / Off-Topic / Re: SVM Reveal Trailer

Based solely on the reveal trailer, I'm not really interested in what was shown off. With it being 4 on 4 and just the way they shot the video it looked more like a slightly stealthy version of a Call of Duty MP mode, which is not what I was hoping for.

If your really interested in creating maps, then download the latest UDK and start learning the editor. In the meantime we can use some help with asset creation. If your not familiar with the Unreal asset pipeline, Google some tutorials. The basic pipeline is, High-res model, low res model, baking maps and then texturing. If your interested you need to take a art test, nothing complex, just enough to show us you can do the job and are serious enough to spend time on it.

Model and texture the following AC machine:

Model shouldn't be over 3000 polys.  And supply a 2048x2048 diffuse, specular and normal.
Don't worry about the pipes or the little platform thing the AC is on.

oooh oooh oooh! I got a question for the Dev team.

I know you guys have computers/consoles and Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas are getting a little old by now, but what is the team going to do when Skyrim comes out? How will the release of Skyrim affect the development process?

:)

i bet skryrim will actually effect development time, at least it will for me. ;)

How you manage to play that game, I really want to give it another go, but the combat of moving back, then forth, then slash and repeat is all there is to kill any mob. :( At least in Oblivion it's how it was.

I'll admit it took a good 3 gigs of mods, including melee combat overhaul mods for me to finally get absorbed into oblivion. Skyrim looks like it's going to be way better in terms of combat though.

you two are missing the point, the point of this thread is that By the time PS comes out, UT4 will be out and won't that cause problems for the devs , just like how The Transition of using UT3s engine from a different game and then trying to transfer it over , Wouldn't that be the same problem o_o cause UT4 would be entirely different structure ?

we aren't going to switch to UE4, so it's not going to effect us at all. how many times do we have to say that?

enough of these childish posts , it's time to hash out the biggest questions on my mind to the team : I know You people are using UDK and it's an ever evolving engine but UT3 came out in 2007 .....so UT4 is going to be about about oh mid 2012 How is this going to affect development of project stealth and how will you deal with it ?

it's not going to effect it at all, so we won't have to deal with anything.

Am I the only one that loved Conviction? At the very least it had the best cover system of any game... ever. It's also kinda sad that Convition is the only SC game I've beaten the SP on...

Anyway, whether or not SC6 has SvM or not is irrelevant. If they don't then great, if they do then competition breeds evolution. In the end PS can only get better because of it.

I'm glad you have some zBrush experience. I would like to see more of that. With that said, everything you've shown isn't all that impressive. I need to see more though. How well do you know zBrush?

We will most likely be giving you a sort of 'test' in a few days. See keep checking back for that.

Getting players to want to knock out a merc just as much as they want to break a neck is a general problem. In CT the reward for just knocking a Merc out was that they couldn't replenish their gadgets, however it still kept them alive and ready to wake up in only a few seconds. Breaking their necks on the other hand gave you the sweet satisfaction of grabbing a merc and seeing the pop-up message, it also kills them, causing them to respawn all the way back at their spawn point after a 10 second respawn time. Most of the time in CT breaking a neck was just better in everyway. We need to make them both equally useful.

Only things I can think of right now are:

Knocked out Mercs stays unconscious longer then a neck break and respawn would be.
Giving the players a message similar to neck breaks. (Zedblade has knocked DreadStunlock unconscious.)
Knocked out merc is automatically spy-bulleted without actually using a spy bullet. (So a knocked out merc is shown on radar for a predetermined amount of time or until death.)
Knocking out a merc is a quicker animation, allowing you to make a get away faster then breaking a neck.

the eye adjustment was cool and all, but it was ultimately made obsolete since everyone just whored out MT.

In PS it should have more of an impact.

It should or it will? Come on spill it  >:(

I can't tell you what I don't know.
