Public Discussion / Spy Stealth Weapon
February 06, 2008, 11:15:33 PM
In order to help us Devs please discuss the spy stealth weapon in this thread. It's hard to stay on top of ideas when they are not in a thread specifically about the idea we are trying to stay on top of.

Papa and anyone else who had comments on it feel free to copy your posts over here just so it's all in one spot...Thanks

Poison Mine

Here's a shot I took with the mine imported into a UT3 map just to get an idea of how it looks rendered in the engine.

Public Discussion / Antidote/Adrenaline
December 03, 2007, 10:46:26 PM
This is just simply for feedback and the durations and affects may not be balanced. This is also something that has not been discussed by all of the other Devs.

Additional gadget for Spy - Adrenaline/Antidote: Injectable syringe with a 2 second application time while remaining immobile. Affects on teammate as antidote are removal of poison from poison mine and full health Affects on self as Adrenaline are minor movement speed increase including climbing speeds and immunity to charge knockdown (still receive damage and cancels all actions E.G. hacking).

5 Syringes administrable only as Adrenaline on self and Antidote on teammate.
(Health boxes would no longer cure poison)
(Berserk will still incapacitate spy)
(Charge does not knock down but it still knocks back, cancels actions and takes half health)

Application time: 2 seconds while immobile
Duration of Adrenaline affect: 6 seconds

Feel free to flame it to hell and back, just a random thought.

Presentation Forum / Project Stealth Epoxy Camera
October 22, 2007, 05:02:05 PM
I saw some posts regarding the camera so I thought I would give you guys a peek at it. These shots are using high resolution textures that will be reduced due to the incredibly small size of the model. The name Epoxy Camera is by no means set in stone, it is just what I chose to call it as I was working on it. The cone on the back is for the same reason it was done in CT, it allows the camera back to sit nearly flush with the wall and when shot near a corner or and edge there is no fancy backing to overhang the geometry.

After some research I discovered there are oxygen activated epoxies that set in 100ths of a second so the theory behind adhesion is the end has a membrane filled with the epoxy that bursts on impact adhering to the surface. The angle it can be shot at and still adhere (Based on real life) would be about 72 degrees which is better than a spike or leg clamp system can achieve. Not perfect, but good enough. The angle in the game will of course not be restricted to the real life specifications of the device.

Public Discussion / Off-Topic-New Keyboard
October 05, 2007, 09:32:41 PM
Ok so this is massively off-topic but as there is a good collection of gamers here and I wanted to get some feedback about the Logitech G-15. All the reviews are good but very limited beyond saying in essence "The macros rock! The LCD is cool!".

I am currently using a Razer Tarantula which provides excellent functionality but after about 6 months I have just not been able to get comfortable with the key layout and still to this day hit the wrong keys when I get in a jam. Any comments or recommendations would be welcome... Thanks!

Public Discussion / Forum Moderation
October 03, 2007, 09:19:59 PM
First let me start by saying there has been a lot more constructive criticism lately and things are moving in a productive direction.

I am not directing this at any one person, but rather to anyone who may even be thinking things along the lines of what has been said and hinted at in several threads in regards to moderation.

Consider this - The project stealth forums are intended to provide information on PS, get feedback from the community and to provide an easy way for the Devs to communicate, share information and resources.

Now consider this - How many posts that are constructive in no way do we see on almost a daily basis? How many flames? How many threads have gone off-topic? If people do not have the self control and maturity to stay on topic and be constructive then maybe there needs to be someone to make sure the forum is being used for the purpose it was created for? I certainly hope not, but if people are constantly making abrasive comments that lead to flaming and derailing a thread, what is supposed to happen to remedy this and get things back on course? If everyone can be nice and respect other's opinions/ideas and not feel the need to always point out how something is stupid, or even just rude comments; perhaps there will be no need of such extremes as post deletion, closing of threads etc.

Help us keep it constructive and help this board serve its purpose please!

Public Discussion / EMP Grenades
August 24, 2007, 09:50:45 PM
As chaff would in reality not affect some of the things it does in CT (Which has always bugged me) it had me thinking, and the one thing that would scramble all electronics would be an EM Pulse. This would also allow for a fun visual effect unlike the boring old chaff floating in the air. Mild distortion wave emitted from the grenade every second or so would be not completely realistic but pretty neat looking and serve the purpose of visually defining the affected area. Granted EMP usually permanently fries electronics but let's just say for the sake of argument that it's a weak device with limited area of effect and no real ability to permanently damage electronics.

Public Discussion / Destructible Lighting
August 23, 2007, 05:58:25 PM
Pros and cons of lights that can be either turned off or destroyed...

Few ideas are

Breaker box where lights can be turned off en-mass (Merc can turn back on)
Shootable lights (Temporary if shocked, permanent if shot with a bullet)
Destructable lights (permanently destroyed no matter what they are shot with)
Light Switches in a room or area - usable by both merc and spy - some maps or some areas could also start with the light off and as the merc set up mines and what not they will turn on lights as well. Then you can say, hey! I turned the tea room light on and now it's off... are they trying to lure me or are they really there... Hmmm  ???

Anyhow, could cause balance issues, could be just a fun element of game play or could be altogether a bad idea...Discuss

Public Discussion / Needed - Jet Ski/Sea-Doo Photos
June 21, 2007, 09:15:11 PM
I am looking for someone who owns a fairly modern Jet Ski or Sea-Doo that would be willing to take some photos of the gauges and the impeller/nozzel assembly. If you own one or have easy access to one it would be most appreciated.

Public Discussion / Falling Objects
June 13, 2007, 04:37:23 PM
Just some food for thought.

in a map that never went public I had louvered air duct vent covers that the spy could push out from within the duct and would knock out or kill a Merc walking by below. It was challenging to hit the Merc and quite fun as the spy to watch the duct vent go spinning through the air and bonk the Merc on the noggin. The only challenge was making sure the vent cover had the same velocity as the spy so the spy wouldn't roll out of the duct and wind up under the vent himself. Some nasty results when that happened :) (And yes, falling objects were used in SCCT, I know :))

I am not expecting a carbon copy or even any implementation of an idea like this but I thought it might help spark some creative new ideas.

Some of you may have played with and remember me from SCCT. The most common names I played under were B1nArY_001 and Tutenkamen. An old buddy I played with in SCCT told me about this project so I thought I would drop you guys a line. I've done texturing, texture painting, character modeling, architechtural modeling, prop modeling, animation (IK and Biped mostly), level design and a small amount of AI scripting though hardly worth mentioning. There is some rather old work shown on the Ubi map editor forum, not the best example of my work but but here are some screens of a model I'm working on currently. It has been in the works for 2 weeks and sits at 13k polygons with perfect edgeloops and 100% quad geometry.
