So this is somewhat relevant (Infinite's engine is a modified UE3 engine); I just re-watched the Bioshock: Infinite trailer and, maybe I'm behind the times, but this part (with the building falling): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hM91ZdrB74&feature=player_detailpage#t=83s

...Go ahead, go watch, I'll wait...

No cheating- go watch

Back? Ok, anyways- the building falling, and the bell crashing beside you, it's all done in real time! They didn't even know the building was going to fall; it was sheer luck that they were in the right place at the right time! The engine handles all of the interactions between the the weather effects (mainly wind) and the buildings. So this building you see is put off-balance by the bell, and eventually the structure can't take the force exerted by gravity / the bell pulling down on the building at such an extreme angle; so the building collapses and the bell comes racing towards you :D (where I found this out: http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/BioShock_Infinite )

...yeah, I just geeked out a little

you must admit that it is a little unbelievable... in a sense that I don't quite believe the article... I mean I can believe that the tower destabilise and I can even imagine that a part of it broke off and fell down but I find it hard to believe taht it fell and stopped exactly in front of character and that the tiles from which was just a texture suddenly jumped out... I find it still hard to believe...

Looks like a scripted matinee sequence to me, triggered by something that could be random.

You guys are right, it seems a little unbelievable, but their source is an interview IGN held and there's interviews with Ken Levine where he talks about how advanced the physics engine is; it's not all that hard to believe

I read that wiki and it said "unscripted".  Where did you hear that weather affects the city's movement?  Sounds pretty cool.  Game looks great regardless of rather or not that was a random event or not, and I'm glad they are paying attention to physics.  I feel like physics are often overlooked in games so long as they have nice visuals.  Impressive physics help the feel of the game and have an impact that nice graphics cannot.  It affects gameplay more, anyway.

So far half life 2 has had the best physics. Love Valve.

Dear god I hope that's a joke, please dear god let it be a joke.

BearInATie

Half Life 2's was amazing for its time, but (although probably not the best all-around engine) the Frostbite 2 Engine, from Bad Company 2, is amazing; dynamic lighting, advanced shaders... and oh; something about everything being destructible

Pusianka

I am talking just about physics engine and it was and is the best still. Play the game.

Skyrim's Physics are best! When a giant "finishes" you 100m into the sky... oh wait skyrim is fantasy. Just trollphysics there.

There are troll physics! I got hit by a Ice Troll and he knocked me away like 100 meters too! Though side ways. ^^

Exactly what's wrong with CryEngine 3? The physics in there look spot on if you ask me.
