Once Pilots are inserted into the robots, they become one and the same (as in, both are one nervesystem), so I guess Pilots feel pain when their robot gets hit, right?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but occasionally, Shinji screams when his robot gets hit, and because in episode 1/2 it was said: "Shinji, calm down, that's not your arm", I got a little confused.

I never thought it was for the spy. The only thing I said is how you justify a flamethrower to be like a tazer (as in, a merc's Tazer). But we already had that discussion...
