I played SCCt for a long time... And yes I've been victimized by the random "Insta-Nade"
Now
Sure
It may be "Random" But I don't think it's a GLITCH
I think its actually programed to happen.
Now have you ever dropped a bottle of Snapple or Soda Pop?
Sometimes you may get lucky and it doesnt break.
But most of the time, it does break and make a mess
Now this depends where the bottle lands. If it lands on the bottom rim of the bottle, it's pretty likely your Snapple is saved.
But if the bottle lands on it's side... BOOM! it breaks!
Think of a Merc's nade in the same way.
If the edge of the nade canister is hit (a weak point) then it's likely that it'll explode on impact.
But if the nade lands on it's side it may take a second to blow up.
How did I come to this conclusion?
Well I once played against a guy who shot a nade out of the clubhouse window (btwn Tea & Lunch)
and he hit one of the posts on the outside and boom, insta I was dead. Next time I was there, he did it again. What did I noticE? he stood in the same spot and he hit the same spot. Making the insta pop, every single time. Glitch? Doubt it, I totally think it's based on physics...
I think more research should be done on this, not to make it easier to do, but so it's not omitted from the final product, I think it's fine.
Also there have been times when I've seen "Semi-Instas" like the nade bounces once then BOOM on the second bounce, it blows up...
Do you guys understand what I'm saying?
Digital, the main problem of your analogy is that your comparing a thin, aluminum can meant for drinking, to a solid chunk of metal casing that is designed to take a beating and not accidentally detonate. In real life, grenades don't have these oh-so-fragile weak points. Of course the design of the grenade has some weak point somewhere (such as the connecting parts) but it's designed to take a hell of a beating until that weak point becomes a liability. It's possible that the game has an implemented insta-nade physics, but I seriously doubt it. It's quite lame in my opinion and should not looked further upon at all.
I'm not comparing a glass bottle side by side but remember I'll never shoot a bottle out of a grenade launcher, it'll break every time, just giving a basic example.
When a nade gets launched from a launcher, the velocity it travels at should definitley cause it to Pop if it's hit on a 'weak' spot.
The entire canister can't be made perfectly because nothing is perfect and there may be the occassion that a weakspot is hit and the thing blows up.
Seems like you've been a victim way too many times
Digital, let me put it this way. If a grenade is designed to be shot out of a gun, don't you think the engineers will design it so at every point of impact it can withstand the velocity at which it is fired? In other words, the grenade is designed to take 'X' amount of velocity, where 'X' is the amount that is used when launching it from the gun. Even at the weakest point of the grenade (which is quite hard since it's a squarish device) the grenade should be able to take the velocity powered from the launcher without accidentally exploding.
Also, what the hell are you talking about? I've been a victim too many times because I don't think insta-nades should be in the game? Please, you're just desperate now. I don't think anyone wants insta-nades in simply because they're random. Your hypothesis is not proven in the slightest.
insta nades just suck. but the nade timer should be a tiny bit shorter so that if someone is shooting a nade at you the time window to taze him gets smaller or closes.
I strongly disagree with you.
yea sure the engineers would do all they can I'm so sure about that. But things don't always work out that way. I definitley thing there should be weak points, remember we are shooting canisters and the edges are more likely to break on impact than the body.
It's simple and I honestly have no clue why you are so angry, in the end I don't care what they do but I'm establishing a point about the nades. Honestly, the best way to do a nade without having instas would be to make them spherical shaped. This way they have less of a chance of blowing up 'instantly'.
Let me ask you a question
How do they make the nade?
How do they get the "Gun Powder" Inside? Through osmosis? NOOOOOOOOO the nade has to be filled then capped...
The "Cap" can be the nades weakpoint, if impact is made on that cap then it's highly likely that the nade CAN blow up.
I mean even a Spherical nade I magine would be filled then twisted at the equator (lack of a better word) of the sphere and closed shut with some lock mechanism (in theory). If the nade were struck on the "equator" then it's likely to suffer slightly more damage than anywhere else on the nade.
Remember these things can not be completely solid, it does not work that way.
I think you honestly need to chill out, you seem upset for no reason.
Please don't start with me, it'll only get you even more upset.
I so want to take you to school in SCCT.
As for the Nade Timer that's somewhat predictable but I can understand it and if done right, is not a bad idea.
Look at the pic of the nade on the top right, looks like a cap/weakpoint to me... in fact the body of the nade looks pretty weak to me while the caps on the end (besides that black piece) look pretty strong and durable as if they were hit they could withstand some impact. but the middle and the black cap on the end look vulnerable to being insta points.

Look
I think it's a part of the game and programmed to be that way, in my opinion adds some flavor to the game, it doesnt happen all the time and it's not easy to pull off. It's not like I could see a spy 30 feet from me and shoot a nade and bang it's an insta. No that's not what I'm saying. but when we shoot the nade it doesnt come out like a quarterback throwing a football (in a spiral motion) but it spins and it's possible that when it lands on that cap.
Stop picking fights!
Will you people forget the realism argument? It's a fucking game.
Nuff said.
It is a game, so lets add Jet Packs & Fairies
I forgot
Thought I was going to war.
But honestly the randomness is a good thing.
I spent way too much time chatting with you guys on my work schedule... jeez

No, it's really not. It just leads to cheap kills.

I understand what you are saying here... But cheap kills are ok once in a while when they arent done purposely. I've killed and been killed via the insta, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I bitch about it but it is what it is. an uncontrolled random kind of thing. But not a glitch by any means.
Your assumption that instas are actually something to add realism is crazy and out of this world, lol.
Atleast from my point of view.
I dont see whats so crazy about it...
In my opinion it's logical if you actually read what I said...
I think triple nading is worse than a insta since you actually have control over that
Are you sure nades don't explode when you step on them in CT?
triple nading != direct kill
i don't care if it's logical, insta nades are unfair.

It's almost as crazy as saying that lag spikes are a side effect from all the redbull the mercs have drank (yes, because they must have drank redbull so they can stay up all night waiting for crazy spies to invade).

1up
cut the crap, insta nades suck.
Insta-nades are caused by client-lag not programming ... and they suck.
I wouldn't be surprised if insta-nades were intentional, but whether or not it was intentional is irrelevant. They greatly detract from the game.

Stuff
Hahaha the fact that you're using our rendered image of a grenade for a realism argument is hilarious. We were speaking on a "realistic basis," going as far as pointing out flaws on a
rendered object with no real basis is pretty foolish. It's as if making a hypothesis in a scientific experiment and then skipping the testing phase and going straight to the conclusion.
I see the only weak point we're talking about here is your brain (lol are you angry lol). Telling me to "not to be angry" and to "not pick fights" is a pretty sad attempt to get under my skin. Resulting to baseless accusations just because I've proven you wrong is not the right way to go.

They aren't a direct kill in the slightest. I would think though, after using
three grenades that I'd have at least somewhat of an advantage over a merc.
You gave 2 examples which show you why they suck in your first post.
1) You said "sometimes" the bottles of snapples break. Meaning randomly. Sometimes, the frag grenades "break". Sometimes they break on impact meaning that it happens randomly. It's a glitch, it sucks, it won't be in PS. In other words it's not a PS glitch, but a CT glitch.
2) That guy that just camped there and found a place where the glitch always works is an asshole that can't play fairly. That right there should make you want it to be prevented in PS. He exploited the glitch, not the physics, to win.
And besides, CT has a very weak Physics system. No way would it ever be that advanced.
I disagree with you all :o

LOL Veg (short for Vegetable not Vega :P) that was just mean.
^^ read the previous posts... be the judge, my skin is def thicker...
Anyway I like Instas, I think they are programmed into the game, that's my opinion, I think they rock as long as they dont happen too often.
I dont think they happen too often in SCCT and if it does happen it probably happens like once every 5-10 games.
Lawlz. They rock for mercs, sometimes. You can even get your partner killed by them. If you shoot a nade near him to cover him but it goes off too soon for him to get away, then it sucks for mercs. The only time it doesn't suck for spies is when the previous situation I just explained happens.
Hey, a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Shit happens i guess
that's what it should say on screen after an insta kills a team mate
"Shit Happens - Never throw a nade at a merc"
If insta-nades are programmed the way you say they are. Why have i died instantly, when I shoot my nade. It's exploded several times as soon as it's left my gun. Did the cap, spin and hit my barel as it left and it exploded? Obvisouly, this has never happened to you.
Never, that's probably not mean to happen... probably a glitch... but when a nade hits a wall or the floor and it blows up then I bet it probably made contact at the same point of the nade (the weak spot).
It's not worth debating since you guys probably wont give in. But I stick to my claim
exploding the second you shoot it out of your gun is a glitch but the second it touches the floor isn't...yeah, right!
thank goodness none of you are in the military, fighting for my country... or at least i hope not; at least I know your no secret agent

Come on man. The physics in CT are so abysmal they are on par with donkey kong physics. What makes you think that ubi would program a complex addition like this into their "physics" system?
Something about them, the way they happen... Everyone knows how to do all other glitches in the game whenever they want. But no one (besides that one guy) can repeatedly pull off an insta...
Now, I could be wrong, but i dont think so.

I can pull off a billion instas in noop-ni's
awesome server. And Vega was there to prove it!
It's because this guy found a spot where the glitch happens a lot. There are a bunch of spots. No one can ever pull them off because the spots are random. In my experience it usually happens when nades are shot into corners and in the middle of nowhere. They are totally random. If a nade lands on flat land it doesn't matter how the nade lands because the weak side points won't be directly hit by anything.
im almost starting to believe you.
It's amazing what a mature explanation can do for you
