Title: Natural effects
Post by: Guggle on April 13, 2008, 08:34:06 AM
A weird thing I noticed about UT3 is that if you shoot at the water, there is not splash what so ever. My opinion: That's gay. Not only that, but if you shoot at wood or cement walls, it doesn't chip or anything. It sometimes leaves a black mark then disappears after time, but usually nothing changes. Please tell me that this will not be the case in PS    :-[

For Gears 2 UE3 has the capability and does it quite nicely.  It's just UT3, it's capable of water splash effects, but it's not used.  Unimportant wood chips aren't going to enhance gameplay for me a whole lot.  But of course bullet holes should stay at least for a minute or two.  A bunch of wood chip effects are just going to decrease performance a bit.

If I'm playing w/ or against clueless nubs I prefer to leave the game lol, not blowing shit up.  :D  But it would be a nice to have feature if everything works out well.  No change at all to gameplay but an addition to graphics is always welcome.

destroying shit is cool  ;D
but i think it's not worth the effort as long as it has no real positive impact on the gameplay.

Migrate from UE to Frostbite and then we can use frags to blow holes in the side of the air vents ;D

Are you sure about that woody. Maybe its the settings u play on. I know when u have certain settings on fear on low u dont see bullet holes / wood chips but on high you can. Maybe its you're settings?

Haha, maybe we should add the blowing off of heads like in gow. and blood splatter on merc screens after they've just chainsawed a spy.

Don't we all agree on an option to choose how gory the game is?  Extreme - Moderate - Low or off (extreme not like gears of war)

Satisfying kills are always welcome to me.

It wasn't officially decided but the community discussed it a lot.
