Title: clarity soft
Post by: Gawain on April 13, 2008, 01:06:14 PM
i played clarity soft yesterday and - call me crazy - i think this map is fucking awesome and CAN BE FIXED despite the size. it would really be worth porting to ps (just like eonXsys).
the main problem of the map is that due to it's size and tons of stealth ways there is too few interaction with the opponent. i suggest the following changes:
-shrink every room by 10%
-reduce number of objectives you have to accomplish in order to win to 4 (instead of 6)
-lower the mission timer to 15 minutes
-remove some spy-only paths so that you have to encounter or trick out the mercs more (there are some spy-only paths directly to objectives which is a very bad thing like lobby obj. or office obj.)
-make climbable holes in the top of each elevator cabin (except bomb elevator)
-add more passive security, but make all the security more by-passable without causing a security breach message
-slightely nerf camnet
-lower the hacking panel timers (especially almost useless hacks like disable laser grid)
-add a 2nd way to get out of the server room without  coop
-add hacking panel for lights in lobby (it's way too bright there)
-...
discuss.
edit: how hard is it to port a map from ct to ps?

prepare to be annihilated by Mr.Mic and Zedblade, goodluck.

but on a side note I've been thinking of this too interm's of using old maps that Projectstealth could use it given the permission of EchelonFox

Rambo from what I know the act of "porting" your thinking of will not work between CT and PS. They are built on different engines now so I don't think that is even possible. You would need to redesign it from scratch.

well, shouldn't it at least be possible to port the basic geometry?

I don't think so... maybe from UT2kX to UT3, but not from such a massively modded UE.

I only played this map a few times, but most of that was what I got as my first impression.  Good concept, just not quite right.  Sounds good Rambo.

It's possible to port everything i think..If they have the skills. Not sure how it'd look though, if it would still have ct graphics?

DEV TEAM ASSISTANCE REQUIRED!

^ Why do you ask that to everyone. I used to play CT tons and i've NEVEr played with you, it doesn't mean I constantly go round interrogating everyone.

...the main problem of the map is that due to it's size ...

Am I the only one who had no complaints about the size of this map?  When my partner and I were still playing CT fairly regularly we fell in love with this map, and after messing around on it 1v1 a few times we were easily able to guard this map with only two mercs, and the map is quite spy-friendly if you know the way around.  The size never bothered me, and it is still one of my favorite maps.

You're probably right, i shouldn't ask. I was just curious cos he seemed as if he knew all the maps pretty well. It wasn't meant as an interogration question, i was just curious thats all.
