Title: Question
Post by: Cursedtoy on April 29, 2008, 09:17:00 AM
I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but I felt lazy.

I just started playing Chaos Theory again on my 360 and I'm in love with it all over again.  I love running around, snapping necks in multiplayer.  So as I was surfing through the UBI forums for Conviction, I found out about this project.

So I guess, what I'm really asking, is it going to stay somewhat true to Chaos Theory?  Is there going to be a death match in which spies don't have any guns other than a tazing gun?  Is it going to stick to the idea about snapping necks and sneaking around and all that? Or is it going to allow things like spies being able to kill from distances with sniper rifles, etc?

Hi there, welcome to the forums.

The answer to your question is yes and no. Yes, we will try to make a game similiar to CT (including the gameplay), but no, it won't be exactly the same, we will have our own gadgets, our own models, own names for stuff etc. We will probably even add stuff to the game you've never seen before in PT or CT or DA. But besides all that, the idea remains the same, Spy versus Mercenary, spies can sneak/hack/whatever, while mercs can kill/shoot/bash/whatever you know from the real game.

the reason is Copyrights....it is illegal for us to be true to chaos theory.

It is our own game in all aspects  other then the concept.

I understand the copyright idea completely.  I would also expect some type of improvement and alteration.  My question was just more related to "Do spies need to use stealth to kill, using mostly their hands" kind of thing.  Because that's what really sold me on CT.

It was so dramatically different between playing Mercs and Spies.  Spies had to be witty and create traps for the Mercs to fall into, using gadgets that directly influences the Merc's first person line of sight and equilibrium with the environment.  While the mercs more dealt with directly damaging and outsing their opponents with guns, grenades, and mines.

Also, thanks for the reply.  I'm sure you get many people spamming about the exact same questions I posed to you.

And as far as Xbox live, I don't think I played with you.  I play(ed) under a different gamertag than my usual forum posts. :P
