k i know this is possible , but i think to add game play would be to keep the camera angle locked on your partner , rather then sometimes seeing where the mercenary is placing a mine when dead
thus anonymity is increased, so when you spawn , you won't know where the mines are placed until its too late :) .
Well, there should be enough time to see if you're being teabagged, right? :P
I think there should be an option to make the dead person's camera completely black when dead, just like they have in some Counter Strike competitive matches.
Indeed.
When you're a spectator, can the angle of the camera be locked to the players angle aswell? That way people over X-fire can't warn their team-mates that there's someone behind them.
^ Of course tidenburg.
But, you always got to have sometime for a teabaggin, or a pelvic thrust.

precisely why i brought this topic up / what i had in mind , not only that but to bring life to this forum again, i have other things on my mind interms of discussion but ill just save it for when it comes to a stand still again :D
Yerh i think we spoke about this once agent, it should be locked or even better black. Heck we could make the locked imaged REALLY blurred so they cant see wtf is going on. I guess that'd be more aesthetically pleasing than just black. But yerh it should defo be locked.
Putting the death camera in first person would be interesting. Meaning it would go locked to where his teammate's face is actually looking.

Actually that would be a nice to have feature but i really don't think the deathcam needs any nerfing to be honest, just needs to be locked on thier partner instantly while the player is waiting to respawn.
Perhaps a short looping animation with a classic waiting queue jingle on the backgroud with a text saying "We'll be riiiiiiiiight back folks!"

it's pretty gay to have to wait for 10s before u can place any mines n stuff close to the dead body...
Or if everything fails, pretent the spy has a sticky cam up his pooper so the team mate can see the mercs placing mines.
lol wtf?
don't mind my crazy dwarf , hes got problems like this LoL .

The option "Fade-to-black" (sp? :P) is only on in a offline LAN event. I think it's a little bit over the top anyway. It's a good point to instant switch to your teamwork so you can't see mercs placing mines after you die. You should be able to see what your teammate sees, so you can't give him any help like having thermal vision while he's on a ceiling and telling where the mercs are using a third-party voice program.

speaking on that notion, i talked to alot of people who use vent, and they said they would stop using
such programs as teamspeak and ventrillo if the voice quality in game was very clear, and id say for the most part maybe Liquid 133 can back me up on this, it is pretty clear.
mics should always be activated ingame (if you don't use it, unplug it) so that hacking voip n stuff works and so that its more fun in lobby. but i can totally understand for a team to use third-party voip programs as it allows communication while looking for a game session, having a clanmate hop into your channel etc.

Compared with third party voice apps (MSN, Skype) its awful, but its clear enough to understand.
Well, it's still better than the one in CS:S, not mentioning CT.

What is wrong with third-party voice programs? People say they lag the game, but all UT3 clans use Ventrilo or TeamSpeak. The second problem with them is that people tend to give away stuff while being dead/ in spectator mode. This second thing can be countered very easy; make spectators to see the same thing the guy they are spectating sees: for merc this would be first person, for spy it would be a fixed third person cam.
Or when you die, you get to go to a room with a lot of rainbows and hawt blonde girls.

well hacking comms is kinda imbalananced anyways: english-speaking guys or guys from the same country as the opponents can get pwned by it, while teams communicating in a foreign language don't have to care about it. but it's sure fun to invent codenamnes for standard situations ^^

Yeah, I actually prefer brunettes. I'm a blonde guy, but to be honest, a lot of blonde girls out there should legally be considered retarded. Not saying they aren't hot, but I prefer a little brains to go with the beauty. It makes them hotter. hehe

plus if they are talking about what they are planning , it truely gives you the upper hand. esp being a merc,
and the spy is like WtF ZOmgz how did you find me .
well i don't need to hack the spies' communication of a spy-trapped spy to find his location XD
but maybe it helps to find his mate, and if i remember correctly you can also hack comms with zoom and with camnet...
na its mostly when sniping, it was never available for camnet .
well when i'm aiming at the head of a spy it's pretty easy to decide between killing and hacking XD

Use laser on camnet to hack comms.
lol that's what it was, thanks frvge.
Does this hack feature really work ? I can't remember a situation when it gave me something. Besides,
it's fucking hard to press "h", you know ;D
It does work with lazerzzzz(?), Spy bullet, Scope on rifle, Binoculars from spy.
Seeing as a spy you should be on the move, I dont recommend standing in an open hallway looking at the hot ass of the merc. Because you know, even when that merc enjoys that, he will still nail you with his love blaster.

Thing is H is pretty far from WASD and while holding H, you cant press D to move write, the buttom placement is poor + hardly anyone excluding AgentX, myself (sometimes), Westfall, and a few others, actually use the ingame VOIP.
You know, just a tiny tip.
You can REBIND keys!.
omg! kidding?! nope. you can in fact, rebind keys to whatever key you like.
now soldier, go back in the fight and make me proud.
I don't think there is any reason for comm hacking.. I've hardly got the chance to use it for my advantage since majority of my opponents use a 3rd party program such as ventrilo, or TS. Also, foreign languages render the feature useless to anyone who can't understand it, like rambo said.
About sniper hacking... it's only purpose is to give away spies' location who are using camo, or are hiding in the dark. (I'm not sure whether or not it hacks if the spy has disabled VOIP, however...)
So let's discuss about the sniper highlight rather than the hacking in general.
oh that's an easy one: allow sniping with activated flashlight or laser, remove hacking-message when swapping over the spy in zoom without laser.
The hack button should be a toggle. That would make me pop a massive erection. Maybe even two of them.
You know, its already possible to use your flashlight while sniping, just the range of the flashlight makes it worthless to do.
Also somehow it's possible to use your laser while sniping on the xbox version.

yeah, but only quite copious through bug-using. the flashlight should get a little boosted anyways considering no godlike mt/emf and hopefully darker maps.

Uh, and why would it not work in PS?
Its not working now in SCCT, for me atleast. Focking annoying. Not even flares give any light.
PS uses Unreal Engine 3. SCCT uses UE 2.5 without support for the latest graphics cards.
Thats just bollocks...

That's one reason why I've found the transition from xbox to PC extremely annoying. If anyone wanted to know why I don't play along w/ you guys.
You know, you could have mentioned that sooner. Would have saved a lot of frustration from Agent.
and a lot of fun ;D
I didn't know that I had to update some guy on the reasons I don't play a computer game. I think that playing CT on xbox is better practice for SvM because it isn't missing some of the key gameplay elements that my PC version is missing, like the torchlight.

You can't play CT because you don't have a flashlight? Poor excuse. Especially when you have a built in night vision aka motion tracking.
What other elements does your PC lack that the uber great X-Box version doesn't?
Oh no, I've got nothing against the PC version. Don't get me wrong. I've found that both versions are almost identical gameplay wise. I'd rather practice and get better using a flashlight because afaik there will be no built in night vision for mercs ala motion tracking. I'd rather turn into a better player than train myself to be a motion whore which won't even work in PS. See what I mean?
I wish that my video card would support this kind of stuff. Furthermore, there are other inconveniences that I would have to deal with on top of having no flashlight. I'd like to play with you guys more, but I've also been busy with real life as well. When I'm not busy, not with friends, no sports etc, I will play games or come here but it's not always CT. You know, there are plenty of other games out there. Tbh CT has lost its edge over the years and playing it all the time can get boring. Especially with much more competitive games coming out.
Btw, I've logged on CT for the PC quite a few times, but I haven't found any of you guys to play with. Of course I had not turned on x-fire so that's probably the reason lol... I'll probably see you online sometime, don't doubt it. :)
Quote from: Papa Skull on July 12, 2008, 08:27:48 AM
When I'm not busy, not with friends
We all know people who play splinter cell have no friends, not anymore. They all have snapped necks, tea bagged mutilated bodies, trauma shocked, death by lethal gas, hearth attack by spy jumping out of the shadows wearing a clown mask for a joke.
Anyway, i'm not the only one withoud flashlights? I have no idea if im facing a merc uses them as I could only see by their helmet.
Oh and my flashlight might be broken, but that doesnt hold me back from playing at all. I dont pug though, only play on agents invites.
Not working flashlight isnt all that bad as the spies wont notice you coming, or even notice you sneaking up on them and then blast his sorry ass all over the walls.
hurray
When I do play it's usually on maps where flashlight isn't so important. Like Aqua or Club.
