As I have said before, when the forums start to feel like they are dying id revive it with a topic.
So baring that in mind, I can't tell you how many times i sworn that I have rolled past
a nade by a hair or a merc.. and still get charged , Do you people think that movement should be more smoother ? . Discuss.
P.S. personally i think this would give spies / the players alot more edge in escaping as a spy.
Yeah, that happens to me a lot, but not when I'm host...
It's called "Shitty Ubisoft networking code"...
You know why they didn't do ragdolls as well? Because it seems they aren't replicated, neather do they in UT3....
The reason the forums keep dying is because there is nothing to discuss. Firstly in game forums, there's always suggestions until we get the impression they wouldn't be added anymore because the devs are too far into development or have started. Then theres the anticipation, which we've had. And then people just discuss what they think the games going to be like in between the times information is fed to us. There isn't much of that talk goin on because we all already played near enough the exact same same. :)
What he said, :P
What do you mean "you people"?
No I prefer choppy gameplay... Are you kidding? Of course we want it smoother. That's not even a question.
there are tons of host-aggro-kiddies out there who will get raped badly once the lag is gone, but i guess they don't realize that yet XD
If we want to start something to talk about, lets talk about analogous entry.
This forum is dying cause there are no topics which would integrate the community, like off-topic ones. I also agree with Tidenburg.
I agree. Until we get a playable beta, a *video of spy and merc ingame running around or something - hinting at next tick tock* I don't think there's anything we can discuss that hasn't been already.
Ha, wishful thinking.
Frvge, in the beta at the minute, I looked at lennards pictures, does the spy not cast a shadow yet and does the environments lighting not have an effect on him so far?
</ot>
Correct.

Correct.
No, they actually do affect that spy.
The lighting in the map was just configured improperly.

Actually, they didn't do ragdolls because the default physics engine for Unreal 2 is Karma. Karma sucks. Would make the models look completely dumb. It wasn't worth it to the developers to implement a third party physics engine like Havoc, because of development costs.
There for, no physics engine.
Heh, that just made me think how hard SC would be without any physics at all. SvM: IN SPACE! (yes, this should be the sequel)
There's loads of physics in space, just not a lot of gravity...

This is one of those quotes that makes you think for hours whether or not its true or not. Kinda like which came first the chicken mcnugget or the egg mcmuffin?
I didnt think physics existed without gravity?
What about friction, action=reaction, electromagnetics, optics etc. ;)

So like forces and stuff? Is electromagnetic forces what keeps the earth / planets in the right place all the time?

Erm, no. But it holds it together. Does that count for something?

HAH! you idiotic POC. You think astroids just float around without any energy in them? You think other objects in space move just because? BUAHHAHAHAHA

glad to see you're still living.
First somebody complains about the forum is dieing and suggest a different thing to talk about. Then you discuss gravity or not and it ends in a flamewar.

I love heated discussions. But preferably at SCLamers.

It's called "Shitty Ubisoft networking code"...
Not only... Another reason is that the collision radius of the merc is increased while charging, making it possible for them to hit a spy, even though they're not near him.

No it's not. The reason is that charging is clientside.

I'm not sure i fully understand. As host i've knocked down spies which have been nowhere near me. What's the difference between client and host side? (In terms of gameplay).

If your on xbox live. Not being host gives you the sacred right of bitching and moaning about how that kill was purely because he was "hosting".

That too.
The worst thing is that player positions are NOT replicated!
Well.. Okay, the position values are... But the players are not placed at the positions the clients receive.. The pawns will try to walk to the position.
I've done several investigations and testings in this.
And this is why people some times experience that mercs have charged them through a wall.. Because the pawn was trying to walk to the position it was giving, but because of a very little lag the position changed to behind a wall before they could get to the first position they were given, which causes them to get blocked by a wall, and seem to be on the opposite wall to other clients, than they really are.
The same counts for charges, the pawn hasn't reached the position it was supposed to be at, and since charges are clientside (health to lose is even controlled clientside), they'll charge you where you are not!
I've recorded a video of the bad ubi coding, if anyone wanna see it xD
Show it :)
