Title: Gamer's Bill of Rights and Project Stealth
Post by: frvge on November 14, 2008, 04:53:09 PM
Note: the following comments are my personal opinion and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the whole Dev Team.

The Gamerââ,¬â,,¢s Bill of Rights

1) Gamers shall have the right to return games that donââ,¬â,,¢t work with their computers for a full refund.
[does not apply for PS, coz it's free]
2) Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state.
[Community beta testing with bugtracking should help a lot]
3) Gamers shall have the right to expect meaningful updates after a gameââ,¬â,,¢s release.
[We'll try, but since it's unpaid, we can not 100% guarantee this one]
4) Gamers shall have the right to demand that download managers and updaters not force themselves to run or be forced to load in order to play a game.
[there will probably be an option to disable updaters. Generally, it will auto-update. You cant play with other versions than your own]
5) Gamers shall have the right to expect that the minimum requirements for a game will mean that the game will play adequately on that computer.
[sure, just make sure you can run UT3 on normal settings]
6) Gamers shall have the right to expect that games wonââ,¬â,,¢t install hidden drivers or other potentially harmful software without their consent.
[oki]
7) Gamers shall have the right to re-download the latest versions of the games they own at any time.
[its downloadable any way :p]
8) Gamers shall have the right to not be treated as potential criminals by developers or publishers.
[we'll spread the word via bittorrent, you dont need to do that]
9) Gamers shall have the right to demand that a single-player game not force them to be connected to the Internet every time they wish to play.
[does not apply]
10) Gamers shall have the right that games which are installed to the hard drive shall not require a CD/DVD to remain in the drive to play.
[does not apply]

It's my proposed policy for Project Stealth's compliance to those rules ;)
