Title: Project Stealth's CT-tourney
Post by: frvge on February 05, 2009, 12:03:50 AM
Hi,

As promised a few months back, I'm now opening the registration for the PS tourney.

Please leave your username and your partner's username below including a teamname and when you can play in UTC-time (http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_UTC.aspx).

FAQ:
Q: Can I only enter with one teammate?
A: Yes, unless you have a really really good reason. In that case, send me a Private Message.

Q: When will the tourney be held?
A: It'll be held when there are enough teams. There's no point in a tournament when there's only 4 teams. 'Enough' is loosely defined as: around 10+ teams. The PS Dev Team will decide.

Q: What are the rules?
A: The rules will be announced at a later stage.

Q: Are there any prizes?
A: Currently, no, but you get the honour. And maybe a cool title or something.

Q: But my flashlight is broken!
A: Get 3DAnalyzer and follow these instructions: http://www.dhost.info/barbol3k/viewpage.php?page_id=37 . For ATI cards, it should also work. Else look around.

Q: What about framerate? I want to have more than 32.
A: MrMics guide will help you: http://sclamers.17.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=21

Q: I need more improvements to win.
A: Try this CT-tweakng guide: http://sclamers.17.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=43

Q: Can I has enter t3h tourn3y cuz Im on 360 or Pee-ess-three LoLoLOL??
A: No, PC only. STFU noob, shoo!

Q: I'll join if you make me leader!
A: No deal.

Q: What to do if my extremely important question isn't listed here?
A: Read it again... maybe you missed something. If not, send me a Private Message.

Good luck,

frvge

make it like a soccer tournament
(all teams compete against all)

not a football playoffs tournament where teams pair up and dont get to play against other teams.
should make it more balanced and interesting.

sorry:(

FPS UNLOCK IS FOR FAGS...

why? because it makes you move faster lol.

and its pointless too lol. constant 30 fps is good in scct.

What a bunch of balony...

Let me explain the essence of frames per second (FPS) to you.

FPS are the number of frames that can be rendered by the game each second. If you higher the number of FPS, the game will run smoother. I'm sure you noticed there are no FPS locks in some older games and that the game is SOO smooth it looks like crap (almost if your running all the time).

Your FPS doesn't affect how fast you move in any game, just the number of frames that get rendered. The more frames you have, to nicer it looks (or worse, if you go past a certain treshold).

Heck, a good example to compare FPS with is latency. If you lag, your game gets "stuck" but sometimes you can keep miving, though, I'm sure you noticed that when the connection comes back, you get shifted to the place where you would have been before the lag started. Same with FPS, if you would play the game with 1 FPS it would look like your missing like 24 frames each time you see a new frame (as in, your new position is reached, but due to your low FPS, you can't see it happen properly).

FPS also applies to videos. Usually, videos are between 24 to 30 FPS, though, if you reduce that number of frames, you'll notice the video isn't fluent anymore, besides that the movie can get shorter while the sound will go on (causing syncing errors*, depends on how you encode it though).

* That's also why some movies you download are out of sync, because a couple of frames are "dropped" while encoding.

EDIT:
I have to say that some games are indeed FPS dependant with speed, but CT isn't one, nice explanation here: http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=723

There are some cases in which FPS does effect your actual game properties too, such as GTA San Andreas, Vice City, and 3 on the PC.

Post by: Roberto1223 on February 07, 2009, 08:16:45 AM
ok u guys should know that the fps are meant to be 30 for all 4 players.

that is why people get soundloss when other douchebags have fps unlocked.

heres how you prove that fps unlock makes you move faster.

1.unlock fps
2.host a game
3.get your buddy in the server (ur mate shouldnt unlock his fps)
4. host pick spy and the other player merc
5.race eachother
6.switch teams and race eachother again
7.do some other things like hanging and moving sideways and climbing up

youll see.

I will join if i can get the headlamp problem fixed...  Your link at the beggining of the thread is broken (for me at least).  I'm going to run out and get an ATI 4850 and see if that fixes the issue.  Have a 8800GTS and Vista x64.... maybe i should build a partition for XP to play again...  Anyway, there was a new driver this month for Nvidia and like always i pray maybe it will fix the issue, but i know it won't...

I'm in the boat with no partner... East Coast USA

If i can't get the headlamp thing fixed i can dedicate host a game for anyone across the pond that wants to complain about a west coast hoster.

Xfire: CapnDoody

Cheers,
CapnDoody

Just open up the default.ini, search for "ReduceMouseLag" and turn its value into false or just the opposite of what it was. I'm not 100% sure it was called that since i last did it ages ago. That fixed my problem with a Razer Copperhead on the game.

I might be willing to join up if i get someone with me.

Agent, shut the fuck up.

No, I won't be participating.  No good reason to as far as I can tell.  Spekkio and I won the N.A. bracket and lost to Snakebit and Solidus in the last one.  That's enough bragging rights for me for a 4 year old game that nobody plays.

The game wouldn't care less about your input device, even if it was a god damn rat. That's handled by the OS.

Your mouse is just fucked. Or your game is.

Is it REALLY sensitive when you play scct? I have the logitech G5 (it's a laser too) and it just made the mouse super sensitive. Eventually i got used to it.

It is not sensitive at all! It is super slow and takes like 5 seconds to fully turn around. Not fun...not fun at all.

well just wait for the beta, and do a nub tourney

as soon as the beta comes out do a tourney for ps even if nobody "knows" the map or the game.

it can be an activity.

SCCT is SHIT anyway.
