Title: Color scheme suggestion.
Post by: Raz0rx on February 19, 2007, 03:01:40 AM
I was just thinking... i remember a spy concept drawing from kebab (i think) which was really cool.
But a suggestion - to take the comparison away from Splinter Cell a little, and make it a little more... "Predator-like", i think it would look cooler if the green was replaced with a red.  :)

So the spies are all HEY IM PREDATOR-LIKE and COOL and NOT RIPPING OFF SPLINTER CELL EVEN THOUGH I AM... :P

So you want to somewhat hide the main concept of this game, "ripping off" splinter cell, by ripping off Aliens Vs Predator?

Edit: You're only (so far?) talking about the spy concept, not the art direction in general, so does this really need it's own thread? Couldn't you just post in the spy concept thread?

No, because i couldn't be bothered finding it.
Why do people treat forums as sacred ground?
OMFG DOES THIS DESERVE A THREAD!??!//1

Either way, i think red would make for a more intimidating looking spy.
Also if you didn't realize, my comment about Splinter Cell was fairly sarcastic...

Then that post was 90% sarcasm. Without it, you get "I like Red Tubes!" which definitely doesn't deserve it's own thread. Also, the last 2 threads have been about spy ideas. Just trying to organize it before everyone starts doing it. (putting them in one thread, not trying to stop people from giving ideas.)

Really......

All i see that's spy related in the top of the thread list is this, and Ammo For Spies.
Either way: Red Tubes + Red Tri-light Eye thing > Green.

^I agree.
Green is the more stealthy colour but I much prefer blue or red. It'd be cool to customize suits once youve cloned the game and start changing things. I dont mean customize as in DA but change suit colours and tube/goggle colour. It'd be fun to change suit style etc, but I still prefer my:
Green:Hidden
Orange:Visible
Red: Hurt
Blue:Hacking
White: Dead

I did something similar to this in my current MOD for CT.

(https://community.projectstealthgame.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg167.imageshack.us%2Fimg167%2F5922%2Fblueblueja4.jpg&hash=c8578926e84ba4c4e3a6dbecbcb95ddac9a153c2)

In addition to the blue, the goggles actually emit a blue light on surfaces that he is close to. I did this for gameplay balancing reasons.

New rule: All new threads are worth making new threads. Regardless of the content.

Is that picture a mod in CT or did you do all of it?
Doesnt matter, just read your post again :D

glow in the dark spies just don't fit my tastes. If im a spy I don't want to glow while I hide in the shadows. I was also thinking maybe a lighter blue shade instead of green. But customizable sounds even better!. Instead of just a preset number of colors perhaps we can allow people to choose from a color wheel akin to what is used in gary's mod/photoshop? Or just have people input a hex code for the color they want.

I think that red would be a good color for mercs.
Spies should have a cold color.

It would be cool to change the symbol and tube colours. I think the symbol is going to be runes which are posted on another thread, at least I hope so coz they look awesome.

Yes, you'll need UT3 to play.

Really? I'm pretty certain that it's been confirmed that this will be a UT3 mod.
