Title: Modelling with Blender, where can I learn?
Post by: Kubanator on May 20, 2009, 06:02:03 AM
I started about a year ago, sort off stopped 3 months after because I kinda of lost interest, and I had no clue how to place materials on objects other than just colouring it. Does anyone know of a comprehensive tutorial for Blender? I mean from start to finish, because I want to start learning to model from the beginning.

Edit: Uhhh, shit. I thought I was in the off-topic forum. Carry me away mods!

I am surprised at how professional of a tool blender has become.

why dont u just "legally" download a copy of 3dsmax. There are way more tuts for it so it will be easier to learn + (might be wrong here) but max and maya are the main ones used by industry, if you're looking to go down that path.

3DS Max, Maya, Lightwave, XSI (might misspell some) are the main industry programs for non-CAD modeling AFAIK.

Really? It used to be really inferior to max/maya/lightwave/xsi/whatever. Haven't really followed it's updates and stuff in quite a while, though.

Yeah, I'd say it's at least on par with one or more of these. It has some really professional tools.
Too bad that blender's UI learning curve is frighteningly high.
