Title: Contest: Website sidebars
Post by: frvge on October 05, 2009, 09:23:45 PM
Hi all,

As you might have seen, we currently only have 3 sidebar images (Lakehouse, Spy and Merc).
We'd like to get custom ones for the following categories:

- Archives
- Media (could be split into the Screenshots/Video/Concept Art parts, but not necessary)
- Contact

I will grade them, along with Art Director goodkebab and Usability Expert MacBryce.
The style I'm looking for is _probably_ a slick, clean 2.0-ish style. A bit like Web 2.0 iconography with nicely rounded corners/borders. Other original ideas are welcome too. Surprise us.

Pick a PS-styled color that fits, or stick with the current green and yellow. I'll take care of the borders around the sidebar using (a/your) color.

For legal reasons, you agree that we get the irretractable rights to use your submission and edit it as we see fit. In exceptional cases, you might be credited, but don't count on it. It's just the warm feeling inside that your work is being used ;).

Submission guidelines:
Format: PNG (along with a properly layered and grouped PSD when chosen).
Width and height: make sure it fits the current sidebar, d'oh.

Thank you,

frvge

Maybe because people don't care about these kind of contests and think we should able to do that ourselves?

I could give it a try, seeing no one else is interested in it.

I'll try to get them done within this week.

EDIT: I would appreciate if one of the DEV's could provide me raw images that I could use. So it fits nicely with the other images (lakehouse, spy and merc ones).

EDIT2: You say .png files but the current ones are .jpg. Want me to save them as .jpg too?

I'm more looking for icons, not for actual screenshots. JPEG vs PNG: I just check to see which one is smallest.

Icons?

I thought you meant these things:

Yes, but I don't know any PS screenshot that would show 'News Archive', 'General Information', 'FAQ' and so on.

Originally, those images were only supposed to be used for the Spy and Merc page. Lakehouse is of course showable, but the more abstract pages not.

But if you have a good idea to make something like 'General Info', or 'Screenshots' graphical, be my guest.

You could use a terminal or something for the News page, the extraction obj. for the info page and something else for something else.

Ok, thanks :) I think we can work a bit with that. BrockP is currently working on some other ideas for the abstract sidebars and maybe he can implement the objective in it.
