One thing I noticed that was a problem with versus mode on merc and a pain in the ass is: If your partner had a backpack for example , That your partner if they didn't have a mic to tell you yes I have back pack, and you go up to them and they have no back pack.. its a pain , I think to make things easier would be to have heads up display on both ends to see that Yes ur partner has back pack.. O_o.
Good point. We'll probably find a way to make that fit in in a nice way. Or something. :p
If I'm reading what you said right, might just be easier to be able to see your partners equipment in the lobby.
That way you can check and balance your equipment out. Or figure out what you should expect from them in terms of their equipment.
(Though in your example your equipment was already balanced and you just wanted a refill)

Im just trying to speed up the process by taking the middle man out of the equasion , so that it will accomodate those people are always in a rush O_o.
No doubt. Definitely not a bad idea.
Maybe if there name is somewhere (such as you point your laser or maybe a more permanent hud indicator.. for what purpose your teammates name is on your hud I can't fathom) there is a little backpack icon next to it.

wow you read my mind about the backpack icon :P.
edit: Also to prevent the No mic probs.. when the servers are live, I will ban anyone who doesn't have one O_o. !
When you had a backpack you could see your team-mates equipment, you could have a hotkey set to bring it up in a small box like that. Definitely not a bad idea at all :).

That's true, I do remember that.
And just as clarification. The hotkey would work with both the person with the backpack and the one who didn't.
I've got one word for it.. BRILLIANT!
I'm not sure I worded that very well, what I meant was that for both spies and mercanaries, it would be cool to have a hotkey to bring up the equipment that both you and your partner have, and the quantity you both have left of each item. Visually, this could be represented like the backpack represented the equipment of both players in CT :).

AHHHHH GET OUT OF MY HEAD , thats another thing i was thinking of too at the time that i made that post !!!!
Seems like a good idea. If three people can envision it the same way, then it most assuredly IS.
And I may be talking about my ass, but it seems like it'd be pretty easy to implement.
Then again, talking out my ass has thrown my assumptions in the wrong direction before.
good idea
I think that both Agent's (backpack in-game indicator on hud)
and Coddy's (In-lobby partner equipment display) ideas are good.
I would like to add (it might be obvious) that it was annoying in SCCT that when changing equipment, teams would switch and people would think u were being a spy whore noob when u really only wanted to setup ur equipment. so it'd be nice to avoid that switching from happening.
and also, when joining a server that has a game in progress have like a BIG ASS message across the screen saying PLAYER JOINED RETURN TO LOBBY NOW LUL!
or maybe just add some kind of Return to lobby voting initiation system to atleast let the guy who joined know the pricks in the server have the intention to eventually lobby or not. that way he can leave and not waste his time waiting for nothing.
I think for the HUD the more info the better. If you can see your teammates equipment info without it taking up too much space, such as little icons and while being able to also see their health would be a great addition. Anything that immerses you and gives you more info on what's going on in game is a plus to me.
Game designers really don't see that if your HUD blows, the player is not going to be immersed into your game as much as if you had a great HUD (GRAW, DA, COD) and it felt like you were the person inside the screen. Since the mercs are wearing masks their HUD should look like it's coming from the inside of the helmet and makes you feel like you're inside the mercs head instead of just floating there. Basically how I see it, if your HUD blows immersion is lost and your game feels like every other game.
Just my .02 cents.
No. It would take too many resources.
lol

That is far from the truth. A feature like that would be very easy to implement.
While the above posts are correct, more info is definitely better, I feel like too much would start to pollute the screen. We're getting too much eye candy in some senses and losing focus on visibility of surroundings.

Also, from the "lol" and my masterful powers of deduction: I conclude that he was kidding.
To be fair the term 'lol' is used out of context to such a level that it holds no ground in conversation these days, so who can be blamed for possible mis-interpretation.
Best idea would be to have your partner's equipment display in the lobby.
Don't need my partner's equipment choices cluttering my hud for 10 minutes. I got it when I looked the first time.

Exactly my thought, thank you.
Nobody suggested that it should be on screen permanently, a toggling key would allow the player to choose when to see the information. Also, by suggesting that the display should visually adopt CT's method, it is also suggested that the frequency of each gadget is also displayed, which of course you would not be able to pre-determine from the lobby screen.
However, that is not to say that it wouldn't be useful to see your partner's equipment in the lobby, as this would allow for quicker discussion of tactics. Why not have the best of both worlds?
A toggling key is unnecessary and redundant if you can see this information in the lobby.
Unless you're suggesting I should be able to see how many mines, nades, etc, my partner has left by pushing a button, but I don't think that would be a good feature.
Note: If you guys do implement the lobby feature, make sure it doesn't come up until the game is launched so people can't just switch teams to get a peak at their opponent's loadout.
I know that some people want a shitton of things on the hud, but in a game that is designed around hunting down other people, you need to have as much screen real estate available as possible.

Yes but when it's shrunk down to a barely visible level, the meaning is pretty clear. ;)

That's pretty much exactly what I was saying. I don't see why people want so much shit on the screen. Especially with the environment of the game. The problem with having equipment viewable in lobby is exactly what you said, but if there only 2v2 slots it won't end up being a problem. Host should be alowed to toggle this on or off. Maybe as a load up screen for you it could display what you both have...actually that makes the most sense, because then it's really only the 2 of you that can see it while you're connecting to the server.

That was what I was suggesting as I think it would be a good feature, but even if it weren't, a reminder is never redundant.
"A reminder is never redundant"
Ok, then the PS devs will program big red letters that come up on only your hud 'REMINDER: YOU HAVE FULL HEALTH" when you also have a healthbar on the screen. This reminder will come up for 5 seconds every 30 seconds.

I think this is being taken out of context of what I was originally envisioning. All i was trying to get at was just having an little icon so you know that the person has backpack, those who are stubborn to type or don't have a mic.

The health bar would have reminded you without the need for such a feature, genius. There is no current reminder that can be viewed mid-game to remind a player of their team-mates equipment, and the quantity of each item. I'm not suggesting that there should be reminders for everything, you've assumed too much. However, that doesn't mean that I'm wrong to say that reminders are never redundant, a reminder does not cause problems.
Four little icons which show up next to the names in the F10 lives/score display.
There done stop arguing about it.
Do you not think that it would look a little clunky and ambiguous if you placed the icons in that position in a 'small' size, especially if you wanted to see the quantity of each item?
