Just post what you used for Spy/Merc
Spy
-Smoke grenade-
-Chaff grenade/Alarm snare-
-Sticky camera-
-Heartbeat sensor-
Merc
-Frag grenade-
-Mines-
-Spy trap-
-Gas mask-
Oh, and if you could post your skill level from Beginner/Medium/Pro, that'd help too.
This belongs in the Off Topic section. And why does it matter anyway? I used smoke, chaff, cam, heart sensor as spy. For merc I used frags, mines, mask, along with either BP, spy trap, or camnet depending on the map and what my mate used.
Spy:
-Chaffs
-Smokes
-HBSs/ Bullets (depends on map)
-Snares/ Camos
Merc:
-Frags
-Mines
-Masks
-Backpacks
It has very much to do with game balance.
Spy - Smoke, Chaff (sometimes), cams, hbs.
Merc - Frag, mine, backpack, gas mask.
Depends on map ofc. Also, for xbox the optic camo was made useless by a stupid glitch that ubi never bothered to fix. The 360 users (that was me) could see a green outline around someone using camo. It would actually point them out across the map. 360 came out like a year or so after CT came out and I never really got to try it out that much. Doubt it was that useful anyway. I hope it's a great gadget this time around. I hope every single gadget in PS is useful in its own way and there are reasons for every gadget in every map.
The usual smoke, cam, hbs, frag, mine,bp,gas for gadgets gets boring. I need more diversity!
Flashbang, sticky cam, chaff grenade and heartbeat sensor. I use flash because I think the merc would be less likely to have his mask on, and so camming him would be easier.
I played Console and never ran into much of the Optic Camo Problem, so:
-Spy: Flash, Smoke, Optic Camo, Spy Bullets (Or Alarm Snares)
-Merc: Frag, Flares (Or Taser/Spy Traps), Mines, Backpack
The load out did change for me occasionally, but mostly because of personal want for variation. I also had a constant partner that would always compliment my load out with his. Filling in the gaps that I'd have with what my gadget selection/play style was.
Cronky, which console?
I played on Original Xbox because I didn't get a 360 for quite a while.
BUT at the same time I didn't see too much about the glitchy camo while playing. So I didn't change much since... I didn't see it...
Ignorance is bliss ;D
If only we were talking about PT though. Replace Backpack with Phosphorus...
That is by far the best gadget ever! When brought along side Frags.
Well you might not have known about the glitch because you possibly didn't use the gagdget? If you used the gadget you would notice a 360 user sniping you from across the map in the head w/o EMF (usually that guy was me). Or you did use the gadget and you just happened to never play mercs with a 360. Probably not.
Smoke, chaff, hbs, cams
Grenades, mines, backpack/camnet, gasmask
Just never came up in all games we'd played in a very noticeable way.
Not that it wasn't there. Just that it didn't affect our gameplay experience as drastic as you make it sound.
AT LEAST From what I remember. Optic Camo was on of my favorite gadgets, along side Spy Bullets 8)
Everything except flares, tazer, and camo.
What about making camo invisible on EMF from very far away and make it gradually more visible the closer the merc gets? I'm thinking invisible from about 200 feet (about 60 meters). It would make it more useful when sneaking across rooms when the merc is far away but still looking in your direction.

Or lets downgrade range of EMF :P
I usually went with smoke, flash, chaff/hbs/camo and cams for spy, and frags, mines, backpack and gasmask with assault rifle for merc. It really depended on the map though.
Also, downgrading EMF would make it useless, as most people you find with EMF would be out of that range. So, not gonna happen. Maybe doing what Farley said with making camo invisible to EMF from a long distance (not 200 feet), but I'm not even sure if that's needed, really. I used camo and never had a problem with EMF-whores.

I approve of this statement.
Spy: Smoke, Chaff, HB Sensor/Spy Bullet (depending on the map/who I was playing), Cams.
Merc: Frag, Backpack (Or camnet very rarely on maps such as River Mall), Mines, Gas Mask
For mercenaries, there's no real alternative to that load out, or you will end up getting dicked. I agree with Farley's idea about Camo, it's a change that would give Camo the tiny power boost that it needs :).

I didn't take camo because you could hear its activation from practically anywhere on the map (PC version); it had nothing to do with EMF.
Also, with only 50% of the gadgets available and everything in the spy's arsenal being useful, I thought something like optic camo was on the lower tier of usefulness. If I stuck to shadows and stayed behind objects, then the mercs wouldn't see me...I didn't need to conceal myself any further than that.
The problem with EMF is the ability to find EMF "ghosts" through bullet permeable surfaces, such as ceiling tiles, which the PS team claims to be fixing.

It is more than a claim, as the video they put out clearly shows NO spy at all when electronics are off, even showing a clear background through the spy.
Camo definitely had it's uses, but was definitely hindered by the sound it made. If it was up to me, there would be no sound at all. I should be able to activate it if no mercs are around and be able to know that no one heard me. I believe that is what happened, with a big green light emitting instead of a sound. Correct me if I am wrong though.
Spy: Smoke, Chaff (Camo), Cams (Snare), HBS
Merc: Frags, Mines, Traps, Backpack (Mask)

So a simple fix would be making camo activate silently. I'm trying to think of ways to make it more useful.
smoke, flash, hbs, cams
frags, mines, bp, mask

claims to be fixing ?!?! , your not that positive with your statements . there is nothing to claim ,the proof is right in the emf video voiced over by Mr.Mic .
It's not even to do with 'fixing' anything, it was an intentional choice made by UBI, not a mistake.
aq: smok camo bullet cam
fac: flash camo bullet cam
club: smok chaff bullett camo
orph: flash chaff hbs cam
squat: smok camo hbs cam
Polar: smok chaff bullet camo
Mus: smok chaff hbs camo
Def: smok snare hbs camo
Ware: smok flash hbs cam

A lot of camo there.
I mostly used smoke/flash, chaff, spy bullets/heartbeat sensor, cams.
As Merc it's Frags, backpack/camnet, gasmask, mines

You can hardly hear the camo activate on xbox. I doubt it was inentional. And even if it was completely intentional, it doesn't change the fact that it was a mistake and could still be "fixed".
I was talking about EMF, maybe I should have been clearer about that :P

Gotcha.
You can fix a problem with a game, even if the "problem" was intentional.
That's making a change, not a fix, because it's not a broken system. Personally, I think that EMF ghosting is fine, but the visibility of the ghost should be decreased.
It is broken in the eyes of the community.
Ion.67= the ultimate pessimist in everything he says ::)
You bet. Except I am realistic, not pessimistic.
emf ghosting was ct's worst problem imo =]

Hardly, since most people would go through the whole game with MT constantly on.
i didn't find that that much of a problem tbh, it was just dying by emf ghosting when you couldn't do much about it that annoyed me. I'm not saying it happened regularly, it just used to get on my tits a lot more than mt whoring did =].

Are you talking about the project stealth developers or the Ubisoft developers? I agree with you, but you know what happens when people whine. Conviction.
PS devs. It has clearly been fixed. PS will not be conviction; the devs here actually like Versus.
I see. lol
I was just saying when people whine towards Ubi they don't fix anything unless it could make them more money. No bug or problem fixes. Only gameplay changes future installments so that hard work will actually pay with money. God dammit fuck those guys. I can just get pissed off thinking about them. Then I can cry into project stealth's shoulder. Thank you PS, for being my shoulder to cry on...
:'(
You're welcome. I guess :-\
