SC5 is going to be completely daylight missions only but I pray that was mistranslated. At least Sam looks cool now instead of the jippo he was in DA. Expect many more PS followers soon.

^The new Sam, has hair.
Just thought I'd let you know that this is offically not a SC clone anymore seeming as Ubi have made it somthing awful. But the graphics do look nice.
All pictures: http://mbnet.fi/tiong/conviction/ ;) ::)
Sam looks like he's been using fake tan in the outdoor pictures. I don't even know if this is Tekken or splinter cell anymore.
when will this crap hit the shelves? any stuff about multiplayer mode?
Nope. The game is social stealth kinda like Assasins Creed (being hidden in public) there are alot of outdoor missions but some indoor aswell. The police are your main enemies in the game and there will apparently be few terrorists. You can't kill the police of civilians via the grab but you can shoot police (Sam gets an AK) UBi have said that this IS still a stealth game but with a difference. There is a full fighting system where you can throw chairs and anything (UBI is proud of this) at your enemies and there are a variety of CQC moves to use on gaurds. I'm assuming multiplayer will be Sam V Gaurds. I do like how sam wears normal clothes but the trademark goggles ARE GONE!
Apparently this is going to be the most realistic yet.

i dont care for realism, and neither do i for calling the mercs arcus, upsilion force or guards ...
what's the release date and is there any information about the mp? maybe ps could contact ubi quickly enough to offer collaboration ;)
Why not just put the series to rest and come up with another title? Everyone who's a fan of the series is going to be like "gmo it's not Splinter Cell!!111"
Looks like Half Life 2, graphics have taken a step down. But it's not finished...

u really think ubi cares about that? they only care about higher sale numbers, and as long as there are enough kiddies who buy games called "tom clancy's xxx" or "splinter cell: xxx" blindly...

I think that's exactly what spekkio was saying...
If I slap a "Splinter Cell" stamp on a bucket full of shit, I am pretty sure I'd find a buyer. Heck, I'll say it's Sam Fisher's crap in the bucket. Maybe a "Fisherist" would buy it.

lol wtf ever. ::)
Man that game looks like to have a lot of potential.
i still think its too early to tell if this game will be another DA or they will just do a scct upgrade
actually it isn't. This game has been being made for about 2 years now. Thats one of the reasons montreal didn't do the whole of DA. The article goes in depth about the new game play style and its neither a DA or CT upgrade, its something quite different and "innovative"
can some1 post a link to the article in english/german plz :)

Ubi's innovative means 'buggy as shite'..
that is bs. same thing with da ubi said.. i hope its mp is good.. and when do you really think its gona come out including with all the delays and shit
I'd say Q2 2008.

I always thought Double Agent would kill off this series, and it has...
Looks like Spinter-Cell has gone down the shit-pan forever with that game and Ubisoft aint going to redeem it with thier latest outing. Could they not see they dropped the ball on Double Agent?
Looks like they have gone for a hitman style with plain-sight stealth, and a MGS style with CQC etc.
Both games are good in thier own respects, but there was never a need to discard the excellent game-play mechanics of the original 3 games which put this series in the A list.
Splinter-Cell is having an Identity crisis, I dont think Ubisoft know what game it is as they try to appeal to multiple genre's and create a hybrid of Big guns, Cop killing, Blowing shit up, and stealth - If you want to use it or call it that.
Multiplayer will no doubt be another nub fest with pretty graphics, or some equally 'tardish MGS3 esque "Sam Vs Guards".
Its now down to Project Stealth to deliver a SC style stealth experience, as Ubisoft have strayed fromt he original spirit of the game.
Quote from: SpekkioWhy not just put the series to rest and come up with another title? Everyone who's a fan of the series is going to be like "gmo it's not Splinter Cell!!111"
Exactly what I was going to put Spekkio, but you beat me to it. Its a little like taking Counter-Strike and switching it into an RPG... without guns, terrorists or counter-terrorists but replacing all that shit with fantasy wizards and swords and shit - But retaining the name cause you know its a well known brand name with a decent rep that will make it sell.
Ubisoft are whoring the Splinter-Cell title cause they know its a successfull brand name, even though they know this game isnt a splinter-cell. The only thing that remains the same is the lead character and the said title, But the game is nothing like a splinter-cell, even further away from DA which was a shambles itself. Damn You Ubisoft For killing off a good series.
no surpise.... UBI is goin down
All daylight missions for single player... um... wow, god that's stupid.
Didn't they realize that people didn't like Double Agent for next-gen and thought the current gen version (which played like CT) was much better?
DO NOT CLICK, YOU WILL BE SAD. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=0VuLQ5xl61Q) Still looks like HL2 graphics to me (or worse).
Edit: Well, thinking is not entirely removed. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=xClrtBC294g) One of the major problems I see from reviewers are that DA (for xbox) adds nothing to the gameplay. And this is Ubi's response.

*SIGH*
If this game was the Bourne-Identity video game, which is obviously the model they have used for this game, then it might not be half bad.
BUT IT ISNT.
Its a Splinter-Cell and I play Splinter-Cell for the sneaky, shadow using stealth borrowed from the Thief series.
After seeing it in action, it looks like Assasins Creed, meets Hitman, Meets Virtua Fighter - But not a hint of Splinter-cell to be found. This game really doesnt know what it is...
"Bourne-Identity?" Pfffff.. Should rename it
"Splinter-Cell: The Lost Identity".
Yeah, it's really sad to see what they've done to the game...
but u know what? we can say how much everything sucks but UBI STILL DOESNT CARE LOL... they dont care and they will do what they think will make them money
imo ubi's manager act shortsightedly. they concentrate on the console kiddies, eg on unfrequent players with low skill and low demands on the multiplayer. this will damage ubi's reputation as a brand of quality software highly in the long term. i think the future is more competitive online games, and not the crap games with fancy graphics and no depth at all, this is just a hype.

Agreed wholeheartedly.
But thier reputation (at least with myself and most people I know), is already tarnished.
When I think of Ubisoft games, I instantly think;
BuggyNoobifiedConsole PortPoor SupportAll Ubisoft games I buy are solely on a 'try before you buy' basis. I will not be buying ANY ubisoft games untill I have had a good few hours to playtest them, especially after Double Agent.. I am not blindly throwing away £40 again.
They have destroyed the tactical depth and difficulty of all the franchises they have obtained and brought to console.
Ghost Recon and Rainbow-Six to name two which have been drastically simplified... And I used to think EA were bad.
Oh and delayed reaction but I missed this before...

What's actually interesting is that console play has become much more online oriented, especially with the 360. Most games have some kind of online mode.
The main problem with Ubi right now isn't consoles, it's the fact that they're crap programmers. See the main thing that needs improving with splinter cell single player isn't the style of the game or the graphics or what not, it's the AI. Of course, writing good AI is hard and UBI finds it easier to just change the game dynamic rather than try to make the AI capable of functioning in the existing one.
Also did they totally take away Sam's goggles in conviction? because I haven't seen him wearing them at all.
Yes they did take away his googles :'(
And they programmers suck, and worse, they cant do simple algorithms for AI...
I mean you just split the whole NPC_Guard AI into smaller pieces, then into smaller ones that you actually fix, and then he should be okay. But making AI is quite a difficult task (i had made a bot for Q3, wich own3d on any serv ^^) it takes a lot of time (time = money) so it was easier to make simpler AI with all that daylight crap.
^That's my opinion, i don't mean to insult Ubi's programmers, they did a great job on CT, but all they do now is CRAP.
This game looks like Hitman mixed in with that one Jet-li game (cant think of the name now). I definetaly wont be buying this game for its stealthy like gameplay but nevertheless, I will buy i because it doesent look half bad. Maybe since Montreal is working on it, the multiplayer will make up for the sucky single player.

You do realize that 95% of the people who buy video games don't even look at the publisher?
If the game sucks, most people will say "Splinter Cell 5 sucks" not "Ubi killed the SC series."

No goggles? I mean, wtf? That was one of the iconic symbols of splinter cell.
What they really should do is just create an entirely new series to handle this daylight stealth stuff and leave the splinter cell franchise about shadow based stealth.

Yes!! Excactly that, but Ubi could like make 2 games wich would be in the same time of the SC story, but each would take other route. eg. in ConViction Sam is taking on Third Echelon on his own, while i think he could destroy it from the inside - sabotage etc., or he could just go on a kill crazy stealth rampage in their building (he has to kill some important ppl in teh agency or something). I think that this would take a crapload of time to make, but it would also bring SC a better feel, cuz you could then choose the path you want to take in your SC adventure (some ppl prefer full stealth, others full aggro, while many are plaing mixed).
Get the point??
^ Just my opinion

i don't agree, im sorry. i first played on the 360, because i didnt know of PC gaming, really. why do PC gamers think console gamers are all idoits running around? it is true that consoles mostly have yuonger kids. why? because its shit easy to play. it costs nothing, compared to the PC, and you put the disk in, and there it goes. parents dont want to spend too much money on things, so ocnsoles are the route.

Yeah, it's just some matter of irrational elitism. But I mean hey, when you're spending like $1500+ solely on hardware, compared to the $200 - $400 console, you need to have some justification :P
Wow that is going to effing suck.
