Title: Twisted Metal
Post by: Ion.67 on June 25, 2010, 02:35:48 AM
I got a huge chubbie at work. OMG it lasted forever. I hope this game doesn't blow.

It looked kind of underwhelming but I'm glad they're reviving the franchise.  Maybe there will be some good sequels because this one doesn't look that great to me.   :-\

I heard they are shooting for a T for Teen rating.

Bleh.

I have so many great memories. Never even played Black though. Twisted Metal 2 was amazing. It was T.... I don't really care about that. I mean, really....how bloody and gorry can car on car combat get? Besides dropping F-bombs I can't really see any reason it should be M. This is an entire year before release, and the first time it was even announced this was shown. I was pretty impressed... not much real gameplay but it looked decently fun.

What they need:
--Fun driving and steering
--Great visuals (explosions will be common, as will flaming skulls!)
--Great character personality; 3 and 4 got way to wacky, this game needs to be dark and dirty, like Heath Ledger Joker style
--Incredibly creative car ideas, including weapons and specials
--Fun and inventive levels (Eiffel tower was epic in 2)
--Good story mode with an actually coherent narrative
--Multilayer that is rewarding, easy to play, hard to master, and never frustrating.
--Freaking insane game modes (Love nuke, it is hilarious). Maybe common shooter game modes implemented hilariously, as in Search and Destroy from Call of Duty, Capture the Flag...
--Various color pallets, from dirty city streets to sprawling neighborhoods to deserts
--Stick to staying in cars. I remember when the Driver series let you get out of your car...ruined it.

I seriously have many more great memories from this series than I do from CT and PT. I was in love. I am stoked.

Now they have helicopters.  Hmm....

Don't know how that's gonna work or if it even will.

The gameplay looked a little sticky and not very fluid but like you said it's early.  Hopefully it will be good.

Yeah I wasn't excited about the Chopper but hey... it didn't look too unbalanced or unfun... although I haven't ever had fun driving a chopper in ANY game.

It was fun in GTA but only because you could cut people up with the blades.

I'll mention this again since I did so in the E3 thread when bringing up Twisted Metal.

All I'm really scared of (watch the trailer) is that they might have gotten rid of the wide variety of characters.

All I see in said trailer is a bunch of Sweet Tooth minions. I liked Twisted Metal for what it was, but there will be a big something missing if the cast of characters have been watered down into nameless, no story minions.

EDIT: Fixed the typo

Good EYE ;)

You said you hope they have gotten rid of the wide variety?  Gotta be a typo   :-X

But I agree if you hope that they haven't.  Obviously.

WHOOPS.

Yeah, I hope they DIDN'T get rid of the Variety.

A plethora of cool cars and cool specials are FUN, but I think the Characters and their stories really fleshed them out as a whole.

I think that is because in multiplayer it has to do with Factions, 2 of which are the Sweet Tooth minions and the Dollface minions. I am sure it so you can easily tell who your team is in team based games. They said more are coming, and I'm sure we will see many returning characters in single player. AXEL!!!!

They know that characters are what made the game. It was hilarious and whacky and great. I am confident they will be back. I just hope they make it whacky but not over the top.

Sounds like only 4 characters, but at least there will be split screen coop online.

You know what's even worse?  He said they are already working on DLC.  Ain't that just the bee's knees?
