Title: I am here out of desperation help would be appreciated
Post by: Bob117 on July 29, 2010, 05:15:04 AM
Hi all I am here out of desperation trying to resolve a prob with my copy of SCCT for pc.

When I play versus regardless whether im playing with someone or by myself on a tutorial map when playing

as either spy or merc I expericence a kind of jerkiness/lag when moving. i can run in a straight line and

sometimes my guy would stop for a second or keep moving in the same direction or just go who knows

where. In the past I had a dual core cpu and simply installing the AMD Dual Core Optimizer fixed it, but now

I have a quad core, ive tried all the common solutions: tried setting core affinity to only 1 core (aka core 0),

tried editing the Default.ini file setting UseAlternateTimer and changing that from False to True, even managed to find the bios setting that let me physically shut down cpu coures. I've tried running the game on 3 2 and 1 core(s) respectively nothing seems to work. I even tried all that with the ini setting changed to true and false. If ANYONE can offer me some help i would be unimaginably grateful.

Let me go ahead and list my revelant system specs. I have Windows 7 pro 64 bit,  AMD Pheneom II quad core, i have the latest sound and video card drivers at the time this post was made. Oh and my copy of scct is not steam its a retail version so yeah i cant play single player but its not important to me versus is.

Kill the evil magic elves that dwell within your computer realm. That will solve your problems.

If that doesnââ,¬â,,¢t work, Iââ,¬â,,¢m fresh outta ideas, sorry. Maybe someone with actual know-how can help you. Alas, aside from banishing spirits from this side of the Netherworld, I have no skillz.

Might just not be possible.

OR you just happen to pick just the right set up to make it not work. Much like having an Nvidia 8800GTX and trying to use the Merc's torchlight.

Was going to mention that dual core optimizer deal, but then I read it in your post.

Might try buying the Steam Version. Perhaps that copy protection is messing with you for some reason. Not that there is any logical backing to that, but just an option you can venture.

You just HAD to get a Quad Core, eh? You knew that Dual hurt it, doubling that will only double your trouble! ;)

I don't have much know-how when it comes to this area but I'm curious.  Could it be the disc you are using (assuming you are using a disc)?  Have you tried reinstalling it?

You might just have the worst registry rot ever... or worse...

If you don't mind doing some extra work, you could do a clean windows install on a new partition just to be sure its your hardware.

@OP:
See my post here regarding the lag issue: http://community.projectstealthgame.com/forums/index.php/topic,2330.msg49601.html#msg49601

In your case, using task manager is "too late", use the tool in that post.
