Title: Subtle, yet useful addition to the Mercenary HUD
Post by: tigaer on August 18, 2010, 02:02:43 AM
Simple:
A little icon indicating the location of an ammo depot pops up onscreen when your ammo gets low; say when you're on your last clip. It would look similar to the objective icons. Subtle, but very useful for new-comers and basically anybody else.

May as well just make it show up all the time like objectives do. Put in a toggle to turn it off too, and we're done.

Do health too.

Having it up all the time will just clutter the screen up, and it'd be useless. I agree on the health pack icon though, I didn't think of that yet.

Hey, the objective markers get in the way, and nobody seems to mind them. I'm thinking people could live with being told where ammo is too.
But yeah there should be an option to turn it off. Keeps everyone happy, right?

Not to mention that this is going to insanely useful for custom maps...

So does the Production Team thinks it's a yes? Cause I actually think it's a brilliant idea.

Great idea; I disagree with the guy talking about objective markers though, it's useful to see the percentage of which an object has been hacked, what kind of objective it is and things like that.

tigaer is the UI guy, I'm the UX guy. But we'll see about the implementation.

In my opinion, there shouldn't be any markers at all.

You can always make a checkbox that says Hardcore Mode

Which means it will have no markers at all. Makes it more difficult then.

You could turn them off with F10 in CT, scrolling through to 'just objectives', 'all warnings' or something like that, and an option to turn them off.

You couldn't if you wanted your sound to work properly as merc. D:

I think there should be a keybind for every icon like:

Show Bomb
Show Disk
Show Disk Drop
Show Ammo
Show Health Depo
Show Computers

And it should be upto the host to change or not. You know session options?

Why would a host change client-side preferences?

Boo, bullshit if host will block Hud Icons :P
If someone want to off them, then just give him a way to change options.
These icons show you how away and % hacked objectives are. :)
It worked fine in CT and no one wanted to off this as host so, it should work in PS fine too.

It's just an idea + a hardcore mode for people want to go to another level.
