Like half this forum have 360s so you should know right?
(serious question!)
(don't say ketsui. i already know about ketsui.)
Yes, there are good Xbox games.
Lol!
3rd person shooters are the shit on xbox.
Can't wait for Gears 3, time to redeem the franchise. Fable 3 might be good. Halo: Reach is awesome (queue "Lawl halo" comments)...
The 360 has a pretty good catalogue but overall this gen is pretty weak compared to the last couple.
Halo reach is a great game, been playing it today :D. Analogue sticks do annoy me though, I can't count how many times in multiplayer I thought that, "if I were using a mouse, he would have died".

Couldn't disagree more.
Xbox games are great because they have a pick up and play design philosophy. This leads to games that are challenging and engaging.

I agree.
Oh for an update on my red ring of death- the towel trick worked for 30 minutes before it crashed again. After doing it 4 times I gave up. The system is now gathering dust in the basement.

I agree with that. The aim assist annoys the shit outta me too.

same thing happened for me.
Well, they are the shit regardless of whether or not you are good at them.
:|
Shooters are way too common this gen, and if you can't play shooters on a gamepad then you might be missing out on some good stuff.
If shooters are out of the question, then there are always hack n slash, racing games, sports games, and fighting games. All are better suited to a controller imo
Got any recommendations? I've paid pretty much no attention at all to the 360 until now, so there's like half a decade of games out there that I know nothing about. I bought one so I could play scrolling shooters, but I'm thinking there are probably a few other games for it that I could stand playing. There any games that stand out as ones that everyone should have?
Well if you like scrolling shooters, the first one that pops into my head is Shadow Complex. It's an arcade title in the realm of Metroid. If you want a crazy shooter asteroid type game then try Geometry Wars 2.
Some more side scrollers games to download:
Limbo
Braid
Trials HD
Castle Crashers
Splosion Man

Not a bad list of retail games.
My fav retail games:
Mass Effect 2 (probably superior on PC but whatev)
Gears of War 1 (it's really too bad you don't like TPS)
Red Dead Redemption (seriously)
Dead Space (dude)
Ninja Gaiden 2 (super challenging, super rewarding)
Fable 2 (I liked it)
Crackdown 1 (seriously it's way better than 2)
Halo Reach
Forza 3
Left4Dead 1 and 2 (also superior on PC but not if you have friends on xbox)
I'll list some more later.
Mega Man
Do it
Dead Rising
Alan Wake
I'm trying to think of some games that aren't on PC. You probably missed Red Dead, so start with that.
And there aren't many that I haven't already listed even worth listing.
My big 8 to hit:
Gears 1 and 2
Halo Reach
Forza 3
Red Dead Redemption (this is a great experience not on PC iirc)
Ninja Gaiden 2 (if you like hardcore slashers with excellent combat)
Mass Effect 1 and 2

Xbox restrictions:
Pretty sure they have
9 and 10.
Oh and...
-Metal Slug-Contra(Sure, you've already played these two before. But I'll be damned if I didn't think they were worth playing again just for shits and gigs)
Throw some
-Smash TV- in there
Not xbox:
-Megaman Legends (PS1)(oh how I wish I still knew where that game was today... lost in the void... with Rayman)
Course if you want the Mac Daddy of 360 games. Here it is:
-
UNOYou might even have this one already if you've bought a xbox live starter pack before!
I've already got 9 and 10 on my Wii, don't really feel like buying them again. The rest is just stuff I'd emulate if I wanted to play tbh.
And Uno I guess.
Yeah Uno is fun but you can do that with a deck of uno cards for 5 dollars and imo it's more fun that way.
I completely forgot to say Bioshock but I'm sure you've played it on PC. If not, play it for whatever platform you wish. It's awesome.

That's true, as would I.
In that case...
If you haven't already, you could try out Battlefield: Bad Company (1&2). I own them, never played them, but then again I bought them for someone else. From what I've seen it looks pretty good though.
Like god of war-type hack n' slash? Along side Ninja Gaiden is Bayonetta, and Dante's Inferno. (I'm not promising coherent, nor really GOOD stories, but if you like that type of game then it might work)
I'd also recommend Bioshock (1) if you haven't played it. Bioshock 2 is also pretty good, but in my opinion less so (probably because it's easier).
Other than that, Farley's pretty much got the list of lists.
A lot of games are coming out that are peaking my interest more than those that I've played recently. Enslaved, Deus Ex, Force Unleashed 2, Bioshock Infinite, Super Meat Boy... the list could go on.
Course then again, I mostly play on PC now so trying to recommend console exclusive games is a little tough. (Especially since most games aren't exclusive anymore, and are marginally better on PC compared to their console counterpart)
I was soooooo sad when mega man legends 2 didn't make the jump to the N64.

My views on Mega Man Legends has now been skewed... but if Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid, and possibly Chaos Theory on the 3DS are going to be popping up, then perhaps I will be presently surprised.
...Oh, and Dead Rising 2 is indeed fun.
Keep in mind (if you haven't played the first one) that it's ALL about time limits/management. While you can refuse to do anything in game (and still play), and instead just kill zombies for 3 in-game days... You wont get the story that way.
First thing to do is your first playthrough only saving survivors, beating bosses, killing zombies. Second playthrough or even in your third one, THEN do the story. After you have leveled up, gotten money, combo cards, figured out where important books/weapons/food are, THEN do story.
And yeah, your daughter will die if you don't give her zombrex. I found it funny when she died even though she likes mega man. (she plays it in the game)
I don't have it in me to play the game twice. So I saved all the survivors (that you get messaged about), killed the psychos, and did the story. Probably wont end up playing the game over again just to see the minor things I missed out on.
Perhaps Spoilers to those who haven't played the game...
...Like the Poker game with the buy in of 100,000 dollars, getting the SUV (or the car), Killing the Rednecks, apparently there's a Tiger(?), and I'm sure there are many more random survivors (with no message warning).
...and not finishing "Ante Up" killed my soul a little bit. (Just takes far too much time)
/spoilers
Some parts were tense on time, but incredibly gratifying when it all comes together and you get everything done without missing stush. Perhaps easier than DR1 in the time management, but in a good way. Plus Capcom having all the Mega Man cameos just takes it to a whole new level. (Cutscenes with a Servebot headpiece on... hilarious)
Oh and I forgot to say that your daughter dying is not a spoiler. It's not part of the main storyline or anything like that. You have to continually give her zombrex so she can live but you can choose whether or not to do so. No zombrex = no daughter = no responsibilities = win.
I haven't even done the main story yet, I know no spoilers.
Since this is a Splinter Cell--ish forum, I will say Splinter Cell Conviction since it's less buggy on Xbox360 and can be fun with family members or best friends give it a try or you can always p***te it.
