;)
It looks cool, and if it has SvM of Console/PC quality (obviously made for the handheld, but playing like the others is what I mean)... I'll be content! I'll play it regardless, much in the same way I'll play Ocarina of Time over again simply because it will be on the 3DS.
General/Off-Topic section!

Seems as if they are taking nods from Conviction to try and keep the screen as open as possible, what with the floating text. Though the screenshot of it in action looks kind of... bad.

Granted for a handheld system it looks better than what I imagined.
The only handheld game I'd be really interested in would be MGS: Peace Walker.
But this doens't look too bad, I guess. But I couldn't say I was sold on the SCC influence, it comes across as forced and doesn't really fit in.
But maybe it's just me :-\
Hmmm, there's this bank here with all the objectives inside. I'm a super secret agent and there are guards. What am I supposed to do? I wish there was some text telling me to enter the bank so I knew if I had to enter the bank or not.
OMG! My prayers have been answered! No longer will I have to guess if the only building in sight is the building I have to enter!
I will be buying it but the stench of Conviction is kind of seaping through the cracks here.
Peace Walker is amazing. Sadly, I have to sell my PSP but I want to play this shit out of it again before I do. Gonna ebay it. Let me know if ur interested. Packaging it with Portable ops and Peace walker. If I can find my SC essentials then that will be in there too.
@ Farley:
I'll keep that in mind.
Though, I'm not overly interested in handhelds, so... :-\
_______________
@Limerick :
I think its Kokubo Sosho.
MEGA BOOMP!
New info. No multi player. The big reveal is 3D HUD and "new OCP gadget"? I do wonder what "fusion goggles" are though. Probably the crap they pulled in Conviction where they combined thermal and night vision. I hope that's not the "fusion" they are talking about.
k
Is there really a reason not to have SvM? I know they are straying far away from SvM like it's leprosy but a simple reason why would be welcome. No coop either. So that's cool.

Honestly I won't be surprised if they fuck it up.
It probably wouldn't work that well on a 3DS surely, multiplayer I mean :P
I thought that Portable Ops did portable versus multiplayer really well and I never tried the Essentials multiplayer. It's possible.
I'm not sure about SvM either, but is there really any reason to not include coop? Seems light on features so far.
Essentials doesn't have multiplayer and other than being a tad too dark (and forcing you too whore NV), the game is pretty awesome as all kinds of old maps from other SC versions come by (oil rig, as one for example - SC1, fyi).
LOLz! Splinter Cell: Essentials DOES have multiplayer!
look: http://www.spielepedia.de/spielearchiv/Splinter_Cell_Essentials/Splinter_Cell_Essentials_psp_Cover_DVD.jpg
it's only spy vs spy though... and i never played SC:E multiplayer yet
Yeah it does have MP, but I never tried it because it's only local connection.
How can I have never seen the "Multiplayer" option... still local only is not really a MP...
Portable Ops/Syphon Filter multiplayer is pretty fun, have been doing that together with Overstatement few years ago!
Guys, you're not going to believe this...
but the ORIGINAL Chaos Theory came out on the original Nintendo DS, and THAT VERSION HAD 2v2 SPIES VS MERCS, but the fucking 3DS version doesn't!

"Features single-player, co-op, and versus modes, just like previous versions"

lol tell the goldeneye and super smash bros fan boys that local MP isn't really multiplayer :D They would murder you
Good to see that someone else played PO online. Once you got used to the less-than-good controls, it wasn't that bad online. It had a bunch of unique characters/weapons to use and be creative with. Fun times.
@Jrv, that's actually pretty funny. I knew I saw a screenshot of CT SvM for DS somewhere. On this site maybe? Ubi has been cutting corners lately. I just wonder what the replay value of this game will be. I mean, I already beat the same campaign they are using like 3 times, and there is nothing besides that campaign? I want to get it, I want to believe it will be good, but the last 2 SC titles have made me doubt the franchise/ubi. The way this one is shaping up I doubt it will change.
Don't generalize, I meant local for PSP, not Wii.

Farley@ YouTube, Forums(Ubi and other), Torrents use them, you can even torrent a file play it a bit and then think if it's worth buying that way you know what you get, and you don't lose much.

Let's take a look at the following incentives to buy this port:
Conviction-inspired aesthetics
PS2 level design (loading between each "zone" included)
PS2 graphics (Looks like it's even worse)
Awful framerate
No co-op
No multiplayer
Crappy aiming
Sub-par remixes of Amon Tobin's great original soundtrack
Seemingly no quick saving (a bone-head move for a portable game if true)
Did I mention the shitty Conviction art direction these hacks have shoe-horned? Because that sucks ass.
Jesus H. Christ, I think these guys are trying to out do the porting disaster that was Chaos Theory DS. Even that game had multiplayer and fucking co-op!
Yeah I'm a little confuzzled by this release. I don't get how exactly this will be better than the last one, which wasn't too good. 3D? I'll wait for reviews but I just don't get it.

So far this port has a worse aggregate review score than CT DS over at Game Rankings.

seems... passable?
I just don't get how you can constantly release remakes with less features than the original and call it good. Sure it's on a handheld, but not even coop?
