Hello, after reading up on Project Stealth, i decided that it would be nice to make the music for this game. I have lots of experience composing, play and own several different instruments, and am fully capable of producing good work for this game. Thanks,
Hughie

without samples, your invisible. ;)

Which programs do you use?
Do you have samples of non-loop songs?
Which kind of music would you pick for PS (preferably with sample)?
well, i use garageband 3, which seems to do the job for me. currently i don't have many non loop songs that would do for the game, but i can put up some piano solos if you want, whatever i can do to be helpful
for PS, i would pick some upbeat music, for example, being spotted by an enemy, so some rock type beat can come in, as for the menus and things like that, IMO we could have some hollywood strings, which eventually leads up to a nice, solid beat.
sounds nice get to work!

that song i made today specifically for this game, and would be used during the menu's parts of the game, in my opinion...i think it fits well with the game
Its good but it gets too high pitched because its soo repetitive, I could see it getting annoying :P
it sounds a bit..childish with all the high notes imo.
your first peice was better.
both pieces suck

hope you guys like this one then, its more like the first one
Yep, too much repeating. I guess I get bored easily.
We should all listen to the Final Fantasy: Advent Children (http://www.ffinsider.net/mp3/advent-children.php) soundtrack for some inspiration.
My favorites:
Battle in the Forgotten City
J-E-N-O-V-A
Cloud Smiles
Your music is too loud to be background music. Loud electric guitars aren't really a good choice.
Hey... i remember the music from Turok 2: seeds of evil on N64... The Intro had music that would compose greatly with versus, BUT WHO THE HELL STILL OWNS A N64 (i do) WITH TUROK 2??? (i don't)...
Crap...
*cough* emulators *cough*
i'll go grab a sample, sec.
Din't find the rom...
btw - HEY BLOB!!! ON UR AVATAR I SEE THE NEW SPIE!! IS THIS THE RUN ANIMATION???
maybe
I AM 100% sure it is ;D
i haad seen how the spy looks ingame - the spy looks xcactly like the guy in ur av

Yeah, at least now i know this is going somewhere :)
back to topic: something between the pandora and chaos theory style would pwn hard. i also like the max pain 2 menue music. something dramatic, maybe with pulsation in the background.

in the game, a beating heart when you see a merc - the closer he is, the faster it beats, that would make for a very nice feeling game, and when a merc comes close without you noticing (he wasn't displayed on the screen) the heart beat would go nuts :P...
imagine this:
you sneak on muse, see a merc (beating is silent, but you notice), he comes closer - 20meters (you can clearly hear the beating, but it's silent enough so you still hear him walking), 15meters (you hear someone breathing, slowly like trying to calm down | still hearing him walking) 10 meters (you hear the heartbeat loud and clear, in addition, you hear the breathing like stressfull, going to lose it | no walking) 5 meters and closer (the beat goes crazy, you hear the spy take a deep breath and hold it).
Also i think that if it's closer than 3 meters, and a merc sees you, a filter like that in CoD2, when you was close to death could be applied.
And, if the merc was close (about 5 meters) for long enough -say 20 seconds, the spie would let the air making an indication on the merc's reticle.
this would result in some nice athmosphere, but i think it'll get quite annoying after some hours if it's too loud.
no it would suck. spies cannot magically sense where a merc is. unless they have heartbeat sensor.
edit: nvm, i didn't notice the 'see' part. still, it would suck.
if i remember correctly, there was something similar in pt when the action started

Yeah, it made the game more intense...
It is still i think when the merc charges and hits something...

yes, thats what i want to try and go for, but instead of just rushing out the last 2 songs i released i'm going to take some time and make a a good action song, and some menu music
Be careful with the loops. Too many loops = bad.
do something dramatic and intense similar to movie soundtracks :D
Menu loops should always be about 2-3 mins long. That way they aren't to repetitive and your normally ready to play unless you admiring the main menu.
LoL A stupid idea:
make some menu tracks unlockable after something is done (beaten a limit of consecutive wins etc)
OK, so I've come up with some different songs, and i kept the loops very minimal this time. they arent very long currently, i just wanted you guys and girls to get a taste of what they would be like
youtube video of 3 different songs:

and one more here:

no one has replied to this soo i will i will say.. that the last 2 work very well for the stealth elements and mysterious style of which is splintercell.
I like the last one the best. Well..the way it started. It needs more instruments, and it needs to pick up more.
These are a lot better than the previous ones.
holy shit, the second to last song (orchestral) was awesome.
dude, this is not need for speed ubganxta style XD
there is a general lack of melody and dynamic in your stuff.
the orchestral part is going in the right direction. i also like the the bass in hughi21.
the best example is lalo shifrin's main theme for pandora tomorrow. why don't you try to do something similar, maybe with more development and groove in it? but plz stfu with these loops, techno sux
I think Drum and Bass / Electronic is a good style for PS. However, orchestra with a lot of wooden instruments also sounds cool.
I want something like Pink Floyd instrumentals, or something like Linkin Park - Session in the intense moments ;D
pink floyd is awesome
but tbh, let's go for the orchestral style.
its good most of you liked them, i worked a bit more on those ones than the others.
orchestral style you say?

Yea, like the Hitman 2 theme in the nost insense seconds -<offtopic> you creep for a neck with a choir in your ears, and while the merc turns around, you hear the drums going mad & awesome... like movie-style.
I think it'd be great, but would'nt it distract too much from the game itself? </offtopic>
well it would definitely give you the notion that you are in trouble, i rely heavily on the music when i play SC. to know when i'm safe and when i'm not.
i will keep making pieces if i know they would be used.
so admins, would you use my pieces that i produce from here, i would just like to know, or must i keep proving myself
I like the orchestral style far better than any other type of music for PS. I really like what you did with the last one, where you heard this deep bass and then the music fade in. I didn't like the music too much, but I liked how it set the mood in the beginning.
So maybe combine your last intro, with some real nice orchestral type music and I think you'll have a match.
Took your suggestions, played around with the song and this came up.

WTF that sounds awful
Yes, I realize that now, should of taken more time to perfect it instead of just rushing it out.
I''ll be posting something soon.

that wasn't the best thing i've ever heard, but it was nowhere near awful.
it was just the third track he showed earlier some page(s) back, with another track on top of it. but the new track clashes horribly in some parts.
16:00] Gui Brazil: lets see
[16:00] Gui Brazil: I dont like
[16:00] Gui Brazil: nope
[16:01] Gui Brazil: quite annoying
[16:01] ßionic-ßlob: aye
[16:01] Gui Brazil: and reminds me of Winki wonka land
[16:01] ßionic-ßlob: now go back me up
[16:01] Gui Brazil: but in a "Lost" island

The first thing I thought was Zelda! And by the end, I was thinking Knights of the Round Table. I don't know why...it had a medieval feel to it.

First of all, does anyone else's IE6 crash everyother time you visit that site? Anyway, the song is probably too exciting, and the "main" instrument was the wrong choice (it likes to blend in rather than stick out). When you listen to CT music (at least this what I remember), it's all about the computer generated instruments, not smashing symbols every 4 seconds.

I'll take that as a compliment. I've added some real drums now, but I fucked up something, so I need to re-organize everything.
