Title: Plain Versus mode?
Post by: Fallenword on November 26, 2010, 06:38:54 PM
I was just wondering if you guys were going to put a versus mode in this game like the chaos theroy style of spy's versus mercenary. I know this is supposed to be stratigic and all but I think a vs/kill mode would be fun as well :D. So please be nice and give me feedback   :-X.

Ps: if there was a forum post about this I didnt know. Just joined today.

As far as we know, the first goal for developers was to "Transcribe" (I love my art class) Chaos Theory versus story mode. The deal with vs/kill mode as far as I know is called Deathmatch is very hated by most of the community, due to the fact of the unbalance, and very boring gameplay provided.

For example:

-Newb spy camping.
-Newb mercenary camping.
-Lack of gadgetry.
-No skill goes towards other modes.

Yeah. Well, without it people will probably just play DM anyway, and ignore objectives like they did in PT. But at least it doesn't encourage noobs to play it.

I think I'd prefer to have a DM mode just so I can filter it and not end up joining servers where people are playing DM in story/not have people joining just so they can ask what type of game I'm playing and quit instantly. That shit got old pretty fast.

I enjoy the occasional DM, but then again, I was an xbox player. All the people saying how it's crap are forgetting that it doesn't really require much effort to implement as a game can already end by DM rules anyway (i.e. all one team being dead), you just need to hide the terminals and relevant HUD items...

Exactly.  Make it easier for me to avoid the low tier people.

If there is no DM, people will not play DM, simple as that. Don't make DM, people won't know about DM, they won't try to play DM. Better to make a Disk Hunt or Sabotage or w/e but not DM...jesus.....blargh

I'd say something about elitism but tbh I don't think anyone on this forum likes DM and besides you're a bro anyway and bros have to stick together right? Bro.

Even if that was true, which, y'know, it's kind of not (see: PT/people playing tag in CT), isn't it kinda late for that by now? OP dude sure seems to know DM exists, and I'm thinking he's not the only one.

special bonus anime girls because your post was dumb

People played DM in PT even though there was no mode dedicated for it. People also played DM in DA even though there was no mode dedicated for it. Conclusion: people will play DM in PS even though there is no mode dedicated for it.

lol it seems like you guys keep complaining about noobs who play Dm. You know if there was one you can just filter it out of you're searches, and if they did add Dm to this game, you can easily just not choose that mode. you do know that right? lol

just sayin
Title: Re: Plain Versus mode?
Post by: DreadStunLock on November 27, 2010, 06:11:13 PM
Yes, but because of the DM, versus is ruined. DM is unbalanced and teaches you nothing. Spies will lose 99% of the time to the same rank mercs as the spies. But that doesn't go to the vice versa.

Dude, Buy Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, install it then run versus and look how it's dead because many dumb noobs play just DM.

Do not try to pretend you are dumb enough to think the situation in PS would be any different.

There sure are dumb posts though! There was no DM mode in PT. People played DM anyway. It was very annoying because half the time you'd join a server just to find everyone was playing DM so you'd need a new one. Half the time someone would join just to find out you weren't playing DM so they'd quit. Your post was wrong and dumb sorry.

I dunno if they'd be happy productive story players if a DM mode didn't exist, dude. They'd just be playing DM in story/not playing at all. It's like saying CT would be more successful if CoD didn't exist, 'cause that'd be more people who could play CT instead. I don't think it works that way.

I say get it in, because that way I don't have to keep kicking fools that join into the server going "Dude story sucks let's play DM" all the time because the game mode can be filtered out thro the lobby.

If they going to play story in DM, I will just story them, and that it. And every other non-dm noob will do the same.

well you see if you actually played Chaos theroy and was any good spies wouldnt get killed 99% of the time lol, at least I didnt. And I actually never got to play any other mode cause when I tryed too everyone would leave so I do understand you're point.

But sometimes a good old Dm is fun.

Playing people who aren't even trying to defend objectives isn't any fun. It's not fun when they quit as soon as you start hacking, either. Don't you wanna keep the DM players in their ghetto instead of in your games? Makes things much more enjoyable for them, and means everyone we play with is playing the same game.

Oh yeah, and it's fun when a Spy has absolutely no chance of beating a mercenary in DM, find me any 2 mercenaries that will lose on 2v2 DM -.-

And when I say mercenaries I mean Mercenaries, who know their gear, and know the map.

well you see that's where the fun of deathmatch actually comes in. you have 2 good spies who know the map and they'er gear and who can actually communicate 2 spies can easily take out 2 merc's.

i'm just going to guess you werent that good at playing a spy in chaos theroy or you had crappy teammates.
Title: Re: Plain Versus mode?
Post by: DreadStunLock on November 27, 2010, 09:43:01 PM
Ok, Me and my teammate with communication can do the same, and in fact if people going to play PS DM in story mode, all I need to do is plant the mines, and stand 10 feet away from my teammates and have my back against his back, once they are close, berserk, if they are far, Snipe. Tada! Mercs always win. DM sucks. If 2 spies overwhelm my teammate, I will tell him to quickly crouch, and he will get KO'ed and not grabbed.

I was joking about low-tier.  I already made a comment about elitism with my sarcasm even though I agree with the elitists so I agree with your bro-ism.

I'd like to point out that this attitude ("OMG NOOB GTFO NO DM") implies that you guys expect the game to have less than 300 players online at any time.

Please change that, so that everyone and anyone feels welcome, and we have other people to play, not only fat-ass neckbeards who weigh 750 pounds, can't walk more than 15 feet and live in the basement.

Really.

There shouldn't be deathmatch but that doesn't mean it there shouldn't be. They can make a far more better mode, because quite frankly to say, the deathmatch that versus got, is unplayable. And maybe it's just an opinion, but the fact states clearly that the mercenaries will always overpower spies with lag, since they benefit the most from it.

Neckbeards are awesome and should in fact be capitalized.
